Who was it that's the huge Bond fan on here? Mussel?... Someone at work just told me a female has been confirmed as the next Bond after Daniel Craig.... That true?!

Not sure I'm ready for a woman Bond. And that's not a shot at women or gender equality and all of that... It's just that... Well... The character is named James.🤷‍♂️

Be a little (frank)ing weird if the next wonder woman movie was wonder man... No?

- joel878

Clearly, you are a misogynist.

I have zero interest in a female Bond. I love movies with kick-ass females. Make more of those, leave Bond alone.

I'll give it a chance. Ian fleming stopped writing long ago so it's really up to eon to ensure the spirit of the character lives on whichever way they decide to do it.

TBH there were some pretty bad bond movies when they had access to arguably the best bond since connery in brosnan, so it's not all about the actor.

- TheMussel

Yes same could be said with even Craig, Quantam of Solace was one of the worst Bond movies of all time.

While I can agree it's not all about the actor, switching up the gender is a pretty fundamental shift. Like deciding Kate Beckinsale should be replaced with a dude in the next Underworld for example... Would be a pretty big change to the makeup of the movies, and we aren't talking an almost 60 year legacy there.

I'll absolutely still be going in with an open mind, would have preferred Idris Elba or Tom Hardy though.🤷‍♂️

Lol. I genuinely had a bit of concern in asking as much, don't want to be the guy who questions a woman of colour being given such a prestigious role. But it's not about that for me, if they select Tom Hardy to replace Boseman in the next Black Panther I'd be asking the same questions.

If I remember correctly - That year Burke said before the draft that they may draft for position rather than BPA.

Makes sense since the Leafs defense was considered "good" at the time and we desperately needed a centre.

My conclusion is that yes, the Leafs had Rielly at #1, but would have taken Galchenyuk over Rielly if he was available.

- Leafs43

There's a great write-up on it. They had an interview with Yakupov and came out of it absolutely hating him. They had no intention of drafting him at all. Murray had been good at the WJC, so they knew he'd be gone - and they put very little effort into scouting him. They liked him, but didn't rank him ahead of Rielly. They also knew Montreal wanted a Centre and would take Galchenyuk, if available, or Murray if available.

The wild card was Reinhart. No one expected the Islanders to take Reinhart. That pick opened up all the opportunities. The Leafs had said that Rielly was 1st on their list, and Lindholm was second.

While it's largely considered a weak draft, it produced Hellebuyck, Vasilevskiy, Andersen and Murray in net (and Korpisalo since now we have to consider that f'er a good goalie). It also produced Lindholm, Rielly, Trouba, Dumba, Slavin, Parayko and Gostisbehere on D.

Hellebuyck, Vasilevskiy and Gostisbehere are three of the hardest players names to spell correctly in the league - along with Scheifele.

I mean, 2012 didn't end the world like the Mayans thought, but it did cause a lot of Grammar Nazis to wince in pain.

I have no problem with a female lead in the Bond universe. There was speculation that in Die Another Day they were grooming the Jinx character (Halle Berrry) to have her own Bond spin-off. I'm down with that idea. Make the woman a kick-ass '00' character. It could almost be like a very tiny MCU for Bond, where the Bond actor du jour makes a brief cameo in the movie, and vice versa . . .but for Heaven's sake. Just let the character be the character.

The whole thing is stupid. I hope it blows up in their face.

Idris Elba would have been good

Idris Elba would be perfect, I think.

I think Lashana Lynch has been confirmed as a new 007... but not sure if they've confirmed yet that she'll star in the next film. I'm guessing they'll wait to see the audience reaction before making a final decision.

Pfft. Trump already has Scott Atlas who’s a three-fer, advocating supply-side economics, climate science denial and “intelligent design” which is updated creationism. Can’t get more sciencey than that.

I can't help but think that this is the better choice from a fiscal perspective.

Keep the 007 franchise, but add the 008 franchise with a female lead character.
