Not really I guess. I was thinking he isn't really one of the 4 or 5 best centers and definitely not a top ten winger.

(sorry if i missed your sarcasm meter, in that case )

If the American team had 12 Kevin Hayes's, they would win it every year.

I was only 7 when Pelle passed. I remember it very vividly though. Very sad day.
- mickel25

I remember coming home from church and my Mom telling me about it as she had just heard it on the radio. Very sad.
I did not realize it before, so I will think of this day as Big Bird's birthday instead. A bit happier of an occasion.

Hahaha I was actually serious, yea I’d lean towards no but I feel like they might take him. Great character guy and I feel like the Americans like the PK, shut down center type for the bottom 6

Brent Musburger broke the news to me: "Tragic story today in the world of hockey..." I was in my friend's dorm room. He was a Jr. Penguin. I think he was the only guy on the floor who understood my pain.

I actually forgot he was an American...and that does change my opinion somewhat. He may actually be on that roster.

Eichel
Matthews
Larkin
Trochek
Brock Nelson
Hayes

Yes, I can see him on that team.

Hayes definitely wouldn’t crack team Canada, if he were Canadian but I wouldn’t count out Joe Pavelski or Paul Stastny. Some people really like Cam Atkinson

November 10th, not a good day in history... Also, the date of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Oh man, the Mystery of the Edmund Fitzgerald is one of the all time great mysteries.

Not sure what it says about me but there is something infinitely unsettling regarding transportation accidents.

If anyone out there has an interest in these things, try to find the NOVA episode regarding Tenerife.

A plane tried to take off while another (lost in fog) was taxied directly on the runway front of them.

I remember watching a doc where they believed it nosedived in to a particularly large rogue wave. She basically torpedoed straight to the bottom because she was swamped and may have had open hatches that contributed to the cargo hold flooding. It happened So quickly no distress call was sent.

But no one knows for sure, even after they found the wreck.

No matter what happened, its one of the most terrifying things I can imagine.

Here is a hockey hypothetical seeking your opinion about Flyers options:

Imagine it is May, 2021, and life is good in Flyers land. The vaccine works, the economy is good, stands are full and the team is thriving. Its 2 weeks before trade deadline, and the Flyers are 4th in the conference.

The 1st line of Roo-Couts-Cek is playing well, on pace for a 200 point season. The second line of Oskar-Hayes-TK is playing lights out. The third line of JVR-Patrick-Frost would be a 2nd line on most clubs, and the 4th line of Bee-Laughton-Raffl is scoring clutch goals.

Hart is pitching a .922.

The problem is the defense. No one is clicking next to Provorov and it is affecting his play. Myers is steady with Sanheim but not yet up to 1st pairing mins. Ghost and Gusty are both proving to huge defensive liabilities.

In summary, this team is a bona fide contender but needs not just a depth player but a pretty decent option at D, at least a legit 2/3 guy.

Salary space is 2 million. Only way you can bring someone in is by shipping parts out.

What would you do? Who would you target from which team? Who would you part with to get it done? Would you be willing to retain salary to make a run for the cup?

You move salary since you have to because any real help will probably be pricey.

I am not willing to move cheap talent for a rental.

Having said that, Frost, Brink, Picks in addition to anyone but Coutourier, Myers, Sanheim & Provorov are fair game if it makes the team better.

I feel like they would be stuck with so little cap space. Cant move Ghost because as you said he is a defensive liability and who is going to take him? Also would prevent them from retaining salary in any meaningful capacity.

And defenseman who would be an improvement is likely going to cost more than the Flyers can afford without giving up a piece they don't want to give up.

Oh lets look at another way. Lets say these guys are available. How much would you be willing to pay for them:

Ryan Ellis (Blues are doing bad without Alex, Tarasenko continues decline etc.)
Risto (never have I seen a guy come up more in trade rumors)
Justin Schulze (Caps going nowhere)
Brent SeaBrook (languishing recently, injury prone but should be good for another go)
Subban (huge salary, declining play)

This may seem morbid but I was 10 when pelle passed and was a new out of state fan to the game and the flyers. Does anyone remember or seen any post accident documentary on the crash? Especially detailing speed angle diagrams re-enactments or things like that. I mean beyond the 1 minute tribute type videos? If so would like to watch

Hard no on Seabrook no matter what. Too much term left (4 seasons) at way too high a cap hit for a guy currently injured who may or may not be cooked.

Same goes for Subban, 9 million is just too rich for a player I dont see as being an improvement over who we have. At least enough of an improvement to risk blowing up your cap when we have to resign our franchise goalie.

Ryan Ellis, I don't see us wanting to take on 7 more years at his cap hit.(6.25)

Not sure Washington would trade within the division during a playoff race. Neither would the Flyers.

Maybe I can see them going for Risto. But again, is he an improvement over who we have already?

I realize it's a hypothetical but if they had 2M of cap space, which is a ton of cap space to have come trade deadline time, it would allow you to add a hefty cap hit at that point in time. It's pretty much impossible to speculate and answer those questions with the variables that are involved.

Frost is a player that has real potential to be the teams top offensive point producer in 2-3 seasons. Trading him would likely be a big mistake.
