COL is stacked in forward star power, but they have been underperforming to team value in the last 3 playoffs.

Look no further than goaltending and defensive depth to spot problems. This past season, COL starting goalie was injured during game 1 of the second round.

You can hardly blame them for the fact that:

1. Makar was a rookie last year
2. Landeskog was injured.
3. Grubauer got injured, and their back up goalie Francouz, with a 0.928 or so in a large number of games, shat the bed.

EDIT: I forgot to add, they added Brandon Saad, who has this penchant of coming up clutch in playoffs.

The frequency of your insults is increasing. Someone who is a scholar, an academic and is superior to others as you claim to be, would never have to stoop down to that.
- MJL

MJL, I think your observation itself reveals the truth. PT likely has deep insecurity issues.

Edmonton is stacked at center.
I wouldn't mind RNH if they can be persuaded.

Or Eichel. Once again. If he hates Buffalo, I would like to be first in line to take him off their hands.

Thank you, if everyone would just ignore the clown please.

Exactly! He's just James Tanner with a different alias. Ignore him. But, he won't go away because he's just too self absorbed.

Several teams are stacked in a single area, but often don’t make the playoffs or underperform in them. Teams that have more balance perform better. One of the reasons depth is so important is because of injuries.

I've warmed up to the idea of Gus being the only add. The Flyers (all of them)struggled in the playoffs to exit their zone. Gus brings that exit ability, he adds O upside and he prefers the right side. For 3 mil and 1 year it has a high upside with minimal short term down side, if any. You can also give Ghost some time to prove himself, let the market settle and re-evaluate.

That said I was good with Nisk, Braun and Hayes, then the AMAC and other buy out hit, ouch, nothing stupid please.

The only way I see Ghost getting traded in the near future is if he has a good pre-season and injuries occur elsewhere. Overall I am pleased with this administrations work.

We shall see where this ends up.

My dear LK, the idea of you, who believed the MI kidnappers were left wing anarchists, calling anyone a clown will not quite have the same effect you think it will.

Also, I thought you guys were all in a tizzy because Hockey was not being discussed?

yeah you look at them on cap friendly and they are against the cap. You go down the list of forwards and it thins out, seems top heavy. Then you go down the D, not sure where that is taking them. Unless RHN wants to stay and takes a decent cut he will be on the move anyway.

RNH plays wing nowadays, either on the 1st line or the 2nd. They need him there.

Me too. With the shock of the Nisky retirement, the pipe dream of AP, and the flat cap market tough for a Ghost trade, I have come around to idea of seeing what the young core of Provy, Myers and Sanheim can do. See if Gus can fit and help. Hope Ghost rebounds and/or is traded in a fair deal.

Edit: I see the Braun re-signing as a big positive in this light.

Truth is that Provy is a vet now and lets hope Nisk left him with what he needs to lead. Everyone else just needs a small step forward, that will at least get us to the trade deadline in good shape playoff wise.

From what I have read, this guy Gus is a spectacularly one-dimensional player. Very good in generating offense, spectacularly bad in his own zone.

What I mean is, I believe it might take a bit more than small steps by many people.

They have to showcase him otherwise he has no value.

And since AV clearly doesn't like him, he will probably need to be salary tacked on to a prospect to get any real return.

No doubt I am a glass half full guy, so I will go with he is not spectacularly bad at D, that they believe they can put him in a position to succeed, that the blend of all D is a fit.

It could work.

I am personally skeptical that the weaknesses they displayed during the past playoffs will be addressed with the current roster, but those are decent Vegas odds and I am going to plonk some $ on them.

I just really wish they had one guy up and down the roster other than Hart who other teams could legitimately be scared of.

I am so surprised that Hoffman is still on the market. I wonder what the deal is there.

selfishly I would like Hoffman. I think his skill set is exactly what the Flyers need. The cap and virus being the 2 biggest road blocks. The other part is the Flyers are so deep at wing, I think the Flyers feel like they have enough depth, where Hoffman would be an upgrade, its not worth the cost. They would probably have to sell Ghost for pennies on the dollar and someone else to make room for Hoffman. This tells me they think Patrick and Lindblom are both expected back.

The Gus signing strategically rules out Hoffman, even if they could find $, I think. I would love Hoffman now that all other options are off the table. He would help immensely on the pp and would be a legit sniping threat.

But I think Gus/Ghost, JVR, and Hoffman, would lead to too many suspect defensive players in the lineup. TK did not thrill me in the playoffs with his defensive reads either. Continuously got caught deep on the forecheck leading to odd man rushes the other way.

I know something we could move on to.

Should we trade for Laine and have a contract where there is a Fortnite restriction clause? Would that be consistent with the CBA?

- PT21

While intriguing I don’t like his price tag with the negatives.

And would have to be way more detailed than just a fortnite mention.

Yes, it was obvious upon rereading what you meant. You had a little typo there which threw me off ("quite didn't work").

Anyway, I am honored to salute you, sir.

Veterans are dotted throughout my family. My granduncle (WW2), Uncle (Vietnam), my first cousin's husband (Iraq, first Gulf war), another first cousin (National Guard, deployed to Bosnia, Iraq (second war) and Afghanistan), and many other relatives through marriage on my wife's side.

What's your experience, if I may ask and if I am not prying? (If so, cheerfully ignore).

That's what we all think.

On my first day of classes when I teach frosh, I have students write down the answer to the following question on a slip of paper.

"The median grade in this class will be a B-. Meaning 50% of the class will get either a B- or do better than a B-, and 50% will either get a B- or do worse. Now, what do you believe your grade will be?"

Its invariable: at least 65% of the class chooses a grade for themselves above a B-. (This is impossible, of course).

And the more men there are in the class, the more inflated the grade is.
