Maybe Colorado can take him because we did them a favor giving them Toews for nothing

Two 2nd round picks isn’t nothing, especially for a team that has recently dished a fair few picks in trades.

Personally, I view the Toews deal as such.

Toews + 2020 1st + 2020 2nd

for

Pageau + 2021 2nd + 2022 2nd

Considering the Islanders depth at D (and dearth of depth at C), I rather like the swap.

Lou just took the Islanders to the ECF finals you dolts. I could care less what contracts are on the books.. we were a few overtimes away from the STanley cup. Maybe he knows more than you trolls ... go back to your own teams chat rooms and discuss why your teams stink despite years of top picks... we were there forever until Lou showed up, hired Trotz, and signed some "way too expensive" bottom line players that have gotten them to one of the toughest teams in the NHL to play against.

Lou Lamoriello...........why did you not move or buy out (36yo)Boychuk$6m, (31yo)Hickey$2.5m, (34yo)Ladd$5.5m and (33yo)Komarov$3m in the last season or two? Its to late in the game you old fool. Signed (32yo)Clutterbuck for $3.5mx2? What the F! Wrong moves and no balls. Its a business, we expected more from you as a GM.
Its time to move on from them 5 players, make the team younger, sign Barzal. Bring up some more youth.
You could have had tons of cap space with no issues. Stop paying guys that do not make a difference or are done, stop giving contracts to guys that you should have moved on from. These guys are trade worthless. Your fault Lou

Kings Fan Since 72......

Most or all of those players have bonus money that makes it pointless to buy them out. Additionally, it takes a second team to make a trade. If nobody wants those players, and (for the most part) why would they?, it's kind of tough for Lou to make a trade.

Also, Lou didn't sign Ladd, Boychuk, or Clutterbuck.

You are not wrong. Lou inked some big $ to guys on deals that take many into their mid 30's. I still don't agree with him winning the GM of the year award for that reason. His star is still unsigned and they will likely have to forfeit a 1st rd selection to free up the space to keep him. His best move has to be landing Trotz, who really did make this team play with the most complete structure I have seen in some time. Nobody could have seen these circumstances coming, and now Lou has a lot of work to do to fit into this flat cap.

Cizikas should be tradeable. Obviously nobody knows if they're considering it. But, in theory, an injury prone guy going into the last year of his contract that they can't re-sign should probably be an option to trade when you need to clear cap space and can't seem to. He's an important part of the team but it sure seems like their options are limited.

Why do you have to comment on every page loser? You have NO life. Covid’s probably changed nothing for you. A big day for you is hitting refresh on your computer 4000 times and eating the hot pockets your mommy brings you

Lou didn’t take the Islanders anywhere. Trotz turned Garth Snow’s imperfect roster into a winner

Ok

Who hired Trotz? If you think Trotz would have even come to the Island without Lou being here you are delusional but reading your posts we all know that.

Zeeker should only be a trade option if any combo of Boychuk/Leddy/Ladd/Leo/Cal cant be traded/LTIR’d off the payroll.

Regardless...Garth brought him in and made him a regular when he would have been a 7th on most any other team. He was a solid fill-in for emergencies but not an everyday dman.

Lou has done a great job in 2 years with the Isles and his record speaks for itself but Lou has struggled with Free Agency back to his Devils days and the Leo and Hickey deals never made sense.

No, they never did. I remember some on here blasting these deals for the potential cap issues down the road and in turn getting blasted by other posters for even thinking that. Where are the “Islanders have no cap issues” crowd these days and do they actually still believe that and plan to die on that hill?

I remember Cpt. A few of us were especially shocked with the Leo deal. I think pretty much the entire NHL was floored. Even if Covid did not happen and the Cap was going up every year, those deals still made no sense. Both players should not have gotten more than 2 years and if they leave they are replaceable.
