I remember Cpt. A few of us were especially shocked with the Leo deal. I think pretty much the entire NHL was floored. Even if Covid did not happen and the Cap was going up every year, those deals still made no sense. Both players should not have gotten more than 2 years and if they leave they are replaceable.

Cap was supposed to go up 3 to 5 million this year pre COVID so that at least a 6 million dollar swing Ses. It has made a huge difference for every team in the league.
Most teams are dealing with Cap issues because of it and it is exaggerating the cap issue on teams who were in cap hell before the Virus. It is also taking away the options of trading to teams with cap room because they don’t know where they are financially in the next year.
The Leo deal didn’t put the Islanders in Cap trouble.
The Islanders don’t need to be Cap compliant until the first day of the season and we don’t even know when that will be. Rest assured Lou and Pelligrini will have the Islanders Cap compliant with most of the team signed but Toews.
Holy poop we make the ECF in two years and this thread still belly aches about a couple depth deals
(frank)!
