Ive watched a few of those Whiteys World scrimmages on instagram. NP always stands out. He is just better.

good to get his take, reminds you why Patrick was such a high pick, it is easy to forget that the Flyers moved forward without one of their potential top end talents.

Wasn't exactly lighting it up even before he got migraines/"migraines"

There was a reason we went and got Hayes. Coming into his 3rd season, he did not look ready to play #2C.

After the setback, best case scenario, he holds down 3C. He is at least 2 years away from any kind of playoff impact role. If all goes well, we will be nearing some huge shedding of contracts (JVR,Giroux,Voracek) all about roughly the same time +/- 2 years.

That's when we make a move for that star player we are always lusting over, imo.

In the previous day's blog, I dissected Trump the record, and Trump the non-political/ethno-cultural phenomenon.

Masterful analysis
, if I do say so meself.

Y'all won't wanna miss it.

I think the move for Hayes in part was due to knowing Patrick had issues. Yeah, it helps having him at 3C, better matchups. I do agree they will need to get lucky with an FA or trade to secure a game breaker if this group doesn't show as contenders in the next season or two.

Agree. Thought he was great on the fourth line. Asham was another I wish we kept for similar reasons. Enjoyed Carcillo but he could be a bonehead at times. Tough guys that chipped in offense are always great.

Where would frost be. If he makes it I just don’t see him on the 4 th line. NAK would be there. I do think he is first in to a top 9 injury. And this assuming Scott is 4 th line center. Either him or patty to start with patty taking over after 2-3 games.

I forgot about Asham. He also showed up offensively in that 2010 run to the Finals, particularly in the series against Montreal. He was definitely a good guy to have on the roster.

from the Athletic on who would be the best play driving line by the numbers and who would you choose.

This is a fun one. Looking purely at the forwards’ performance by regularized adjusted plus-minus (RAPM), the answer to Part 1 of your question is one you might not expect. Sean Couturier (second by expected goals RAPM, first by Corsi RAPM) would obviously center the line, Travis Konecny (third in xG RAPM, third in Corsi RAPM) would play the right side, and James van Riemsdyk would be the left wing. No, that’s not a misprint: JvR ranked fourth in Corsi RAPM and led all Flyers forwards last season in RAPM impact on expected goal differential. At even strength, van Riemsdyk was a lot better in 2019-20 than most think.

That said, my personal choice would be a little different. For starters, I wouldn’t include van Riemsdyk. He may have been great by the numbers in 2019-20, but he was pretty awful by them in 2018-19, and I think van Riemsdyk is best served feasting on lesser competition, not matching up against top competition on almost every shift, as he would on a line with Couturier. I don’t have the same concern about top competition with Konecny, but he’s had only one great advanced-stat season. I’d like to see him repeat that performance before dubbing him a true play-driver.

With those removals in mind, I’d go with a line of Claude Giroux, Couturier and Oskar Lindblom. The presence of defensive stalwarts Couturier and Lindblom would give Giroux the opportunity to primarily focus on offense creation, and leave the bulk of the board work to his larger linemates. I’m also intrigued by the prospect of combining Giroux’s stellar playmaking ability with Lindblom’s knack for getting to high-danger areas and creating scoring chances for himself. This line could be an xG juggernaut, even if it would likely push Konecny or Jakub Voracek to Line 3.
