Player development coach Chris Higgins on Podkolzin.
"To be honest I don't think there's too much to dislike. I almost think his game is going to translate better when he comes over to the NA ice surface."
"When you put him with better players, he finds a way to evaluate his game"
"Probably more a playmaker then a scorer"

He was playing with another player promoted from the 4rth line and Linden Vey when he picked up those points yesterday.

Hahahahaha take a breath hahahahaha...and the circle of life continues. Team will be fine. - CoolerHeads
Such a weird narrative that we were dependent on a guy that played a whopping 15-20 games and was generally a non-factor in the playoffs. Pretty sure the top6 is going to be fine. |

Kinda what Horvat needs. - Pacificgem
Eventually but Gaudette could use him more. Needs a good 2-way winger to see if he is going to the next level. |

: #Canucks strengths last season were their top 6 and goaltending, both of which have taken a step back - VanHockeyGuy
JD Burke is a complete idiot.
Not sure how the top 6 has taken a step back, they had Toffoli for all of 14 games. |

Goaltending - very much a high possibility that the new duo are not as good as Marky. BUT that's not guaranteed. So obviously he cant definitively state that.
Top 6 in scoring were Petey, JMT, BB, Pearson, Bo, Jake - last I checked all are still on the team so where's the step back?? What if those 6 improve on their point totals? Isn't there a real potential that they take a step forward??
Considering the fact that those 6 players have all improved their point totals the last few seasons....???? Seems more like common sense than fanboy defense. - Brooks_Light
Listen here, we wont have your logic or valid points on this here board, ya hear? This board is for complaining and making fun of the people who point out complaining. Go on now, scat! |

The players have been vocal about not voting to go with the bubble again. Wonder what the NHLPA does when it's put to a vote again? - boonerbuck
NHLPA will have to compromise on what ever level is needed to play. If they want a paycheque they’ve gotta be partners with the NHL. Lots on both sides is needed. |

Quick, let me search the internet for something damning against the Canucks and Benning.
AHH HA, I found something, here it is...an “NHL scout” (who is he?) doesn’t matter, could be Eklund...who cares it’s on the internet, in text, has to be true because it’s disparaging to the team.
Anyway “an NHL” scout said this and if you don’t agree you are a fanboy, trying to be positive about the Canucks, stupid fanboys. - Nuckerwhatever
He posted the same kind of nameless Athletic quote when JB acquired Schmidt and literally tagged my name to it as some kind of bias confirmation supporting his just luck claim. Immediately after, Carol's new blog opens and she posts reports with names of the writers, names of sources, details and names of people being referenced. All of it contradicting VHG's nameless quote.
One persona actually stood up and said "it's from the Athletic, I trust that" even though the quote had no information in it(just some sourceless claim) and was nameless. If I'm the Athletic, that's the reader base I target. |

Huge step back.

I read 2 things into this...
https://canucksarmy.com/2...ered-setback-still-track/
Transition from a trade & the newness took time.
2nd he worked on what we need most his D & that is more needed to compliment LHD prospects we currently have with their style.
Overall our D depth lacks toughness without losing other attributes. |

The overstated impact is laughable lol
Sure he was a good get if he stayed & the top 9 better for it but top 6 he was a fill in til Brock was back that only made us deeper. Sample size wasn’t huge so it comes down only to the cost to get him. Covid was the issue more than anything else. Marky probably still would’ve walked being Demko wasn’t going to be exposed. |

That last point is a good one. There’s no way we would had given him the same trade protection |

I know but that's not the same as hybrid bubbles with rotating family time. Details all the difference. |

Much too early even assuming a season is coming...
Given we can expect ELC’s making the team up 2-3 being developed on the fly. We can expect some inconsistent play but to what extent will fall on vets & how well prospects can play responsible shifts.
Now can Hoglander OJ & maybe Rafferty & Rathbone play smart & the coaching enable that to happen?
I’m not sold Baumer is capable & hope he proves he wrong. Can TG have schemes to compliment the roster make up?
Big challenges for sure. I will guess more of the same scheme of defend cross ice passes & goalies facing a ton of rubber again. I also think more mobility & breakouts to create more 5v5 will improve. There will be times when we get hemmed in our zone playing this style. I think it’s a conservative D scheme & will rely on puck pursuit & retrieval putting the kids into difficult exposure against teams like Vegas & Dallas & St Louis types of style. Run & gun offence will continue but won’t be easy if F’s don’t play better supporting the D. I don’t want to see the bottom 6 playing as much if the top 6 gets stuck too often in our end. |

After reading neems post above, I feel bad for making fun of the guy that is constantly complaining, not a nice gesture on my part.
I agree with the premise above that if you are going to make any type of a comment that will be published you should put your name to it. At least Burke puts his name to his posts, quoting an unnamed NHL scout and using it as something valid is like quoting EK and saying point proved.

Yeah that's how I've been seeing him. Now Podz could slot on the left wing being a left shot. Options there depending on Hogs impact and what JV does. The hope is that the 3 of them fill in the top 9 and shotgun Bo post Pearson. That leaves the Canucks #1 trade pursuit of getting a top RSD. We'll see how it pans out. Need a season to get things going. |
