We'll be fine without Toffoli lol.
Looking forward to OJ. - LordHumungous
We were fine without him. I'm looking forward to seeing Holtby bring his game back around, Demko take the next step, while watching Marky crumble behind the Flames declining to sh it defence. |

Tanev at two years for $4MM/yr would have been good. Are you saying Benning should have matched the 4 years at $4.5MM per that Calgary offered? - YeOldTimer
Yes, I believe that is what he's indicating... and keep Markstrom.
Benning bro gonna bro, being haters gonna hate.
Me I'm a Linden fan who is glad that TL arranged the Schmidt trade so that I can hold my head up high... or get high, one of the two anyways... |

That's the linchpin for the Canuck season; if it occurs. If goaltending levels maintain through the tandem then they have a shot to improve team play. |

Markstrom's great play has been so new that going into last season, it was still a question mark? Going into the playoffs it was still being questioned. Now that he has changed teams... people doubt we can do without him.
Here's how new Marky's stardom is. Two seasons ago I made a poll on the holidays asking if people think Markstrom has turned the corner in his career and all who answered except Thunderchunk said no, he's the same. He finished the season MVP iirc.
I'm fine with Holtby and Demko. Green would have overplayed Marky holding back Demko and the only other option was to trade Demko and sign Marky to term. I was ok with that as well... but it's damned if you do and damned if you don't with those two options. People are going to complain before they know the outcome regardless of which direction JB went.

That sounds horrifying.
Almost as bad as the All blacks - Puma's game last night.

Yeah JB didn't want to part with Demko for sure. He wouldn't give him up for OEL. He wouldn't expose him over Marky. Marky could have stayed for a tandem situation with the offer from Canucks. But the term from Flames (post Covid) was MAF like and he ran. |

Its a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll and Marky definitely took the long way. I understand that he wants to get paid after all the work. I wish him luck.
I think Holtby and Demko will work good together. No coaching loyalties to Markstrom will help Demko big time.

Yes though this loyalty comment seems like a dig at Green. Are you saying he was holding Demko back? |

Hi,
Sorry about the lateness of the blog. I got deep in the weeks, trying to figure out some intriguing details surrounding bonus payments.
That, and some nostalgia, distilled for your reading enjoyment in the new blog:

No not at all. I'm talking about next step situation. Demko needs more games after what we saw in the playoffs. Markstrom would expect the starter load if he resigned and I'm sure Green would give it to him if his quality of play continued. This current tandem would be easier for Green to commit to a split I think.

Whining is a human condition that won't ever go away. Many come here only out of curiosity to see what others are whining about.
Canucks winning their first cup however would definitely relieve a lot of accumulated angst and alter the nature of the whining. That would be nice, don't you think? - YeOldTimer
Imo whining is the human reaction to being spoiled & poor sportmanship in sport. Kids whining get straightened out but adults believe it’s beneath them. Now if constructive I call it complaining if solutions are provided without hindsight being beaten to death. In life it’s adversity & how ppl handle it. Make the necessary adjustments. |

I rather put it as the kids keep improving & vets do as paid & overall team D improves. In goal we should be capable. If that happens as I expect it should we’ll be fine. If not it’s on the coaches. |
