More talk on Governors call about the potential for a Canadian division and 3 U.S. divisions. Also the idea of teams playing 2-3 games in a row vs same team to limit travel and exposure. Sorta like baseball-style schedule. But again, nothing written in stone. Just ideas right now

I am also expecting a 42 game season if it happens, along with divisional play only. 3 divisions with 8 teams and Canadian division with 7.
The 8 team divisions would play each other 6 times(42), and the Canadian division play each other 7 times(42)

I can't remember who said it the other day but it was rumoured 56 game schedule was what they were going for.

Fauci did say that he figures in April a vaccine could be made available to the public for everyone. So really, sports teams could possibly have it by maybe Feb.

I don't know if that makes a difference to the NHL because it's mostly about whether fans will be in the Arenas or not.

For Canada, just have the division in Edmonton and Calgary. Alberta doesn't seem to care about the virus.

I was there for a month. Mask wearing was completely optional whether is was mandatory or not.

The public outcry would be incredible, if athletes get vaccine 1st. I believe Dr. Tam has already stated that the vulnerable, at-risk will be the 1st to get va cines here in Canada, as it should be.

The players don't have to get it, until they test positive for it. I'm a soccer fan and they have been travelling and playing every 3 days in Europe for over a month now. Tested every couple of days. The transmission even after close contact of playing and practicing seems to be minimal. Players that do test positive are asked to go home and isolate until they test negative a few times.

30yr old Johnson 4/5m in this cap world will cost a lot to move. The others nobody is stepping up for. TB will be extorted heavily.

Apparently.

I think they'll trade a 1st to move Johnson, trade 2 of Palat, Gourde, Kilhorn or Cirelli for a cheaper/worse replacement and keep the defensemen. They have the forward depth and continously find and develop guys who succeed offensively.

Except that we didn't have Toffoli to start the season last year and our offense was fine. We have a slight downgrade from Markstrom to Holtby(potentially worse, potentially better) and Demko is ready. We upgraded from Tanev to Schmidt. Toffoli is a loss, but we yad him for like 4 playoff games and 10 regular season games? I personally can't count that as a loss. It's not like we had him the full year and he was a major part of why we had as good a year as we did.
