Florida Marlins have just hired a woman as GM.

Not going to lie to you: I didn't think I'd see this for a while.

Good for them

I'm surprised there hasn't been a woman that's had a sniff at the majors though, unless I'm mistaken.

I don't see it happening for a long time, if ever.

Baseball (as in "hard ball") isn't particularly big in the US - they all get directed into softball.

And then (and I type this knowing full-well that I'm going to be accused of being a misogynist), there's simply a physical difference that makes it extremely difficult for women to compete with men at the highest level.

I'd done a lot of reading on this - most studies give post-puberty males about an 11-12% strength advantage (apparently it's pretty consistent across all sports).

That's just too big a gap to overcome.

IMHO, and as someone who spends a lot of my time supporting female athletics, we need to get away from comparing the women's games to the men's games.

They are uniquely different. But they can be just as exciting (see 2014 Olympics Women's gold medal game).

On a wide scale, yes.

But if there's 300lb slobs that can play the game professionally, there must be a woman who can crack a roster somewhere.

One of my favourite Disney movies.

Plot synopsis:

"It's about a guy who is really ugly, so he kidnaps a woman and holds her hostage in his home, in the hopes that Stockholm Syndrome will kick in and she will fall in love with him. We plan to market it to every single girl under the age of 12."

"I really don't know how that could be any creepier."

"We are going to get Celine Dion to sing the theme song!"

You had an opinion so bad people are actually discussing the contents of the blog.

A couple of summers ago, Mrs. and Mrs. Wedgie my wife and I were showing the kids a Cray Supercomputer we stumbled across in a museum.

Doing a quick google search, my iPhone 6 had 1000X the computing power.

My wife and I were laughing about how back in the day, “Cray Supercomputer” was synonymous with “the greatest technological achievement ever.”

Our kids just kept on asking why it was so big.

I guarantee taht will never happen. He lacks the finish to ever score 30, let alone 40.

Amirov, now that's a true 1st line talent that has a shot

Stop. Please just stop.

I appreciate your eternal optimism, I do. But this type of stuff is just fodder.
