Don't forget, years ago all laptops had those slide-out bays for their batteries.

I even used to have multiple batteries for some of my old laptops. When one ran low on charge, I'd plug the laptop in, slide the drained battery out, slide in a charged one, and unplug the laptop again to be untethered. Overnight, I'd plug the laptop again, and put the drained battery back in to top-it-off, after letting the swapped battery to charge back up as well.

The laptops I have now, it's the other way around: one battery and second charger. One charger to travel with (and take wherever I go with the laptop around the house when the battery gets too low), the other I keep my office where I keep my laptops when I'm not using them.
