The question is when would the players get the 23% back? Or is this a can the owners can just keep kicking down the road

Never. They get 50% of hockey related revenue every year. No more, no less. The players allegedly owe $200M still from last year. This year's revenue is gonna be a very small percentage of normal. The players and the owners are splitting a far smaller pie. No big deal, they're all rich. The stadium workers, not so much. But, that's how it goes.

Interesting comment by him in his presser - paraphrasing here - talking about the relative lack of success after the WS win - he found out about himself - that he enjoyed (and was good at) the process of building a team to the top - but he didn’t enjoy so much (and wasn’t so good at) the maintenance of it.

I’ve thought that for a long time - extend it to coaches, too.

Apply it to Stan, reversing the attributes - Stan is good at maintaining a high quality team, but not so good at rebuilding one.

The Phil Jackson syndrome - he (and Quenneville) could win with a team that’s expected to win - but wouldn’t be as good with one that needs development. Many (most?) coaches can’t win when they’re expected to - it’s a specific skill.

How do you know Stan can't build a team when did he try and fail?

I don't think you can really say this yet. He's spent the last few years trying to do two things at once - rebuild and maintain competitiveness - at the behest of McD (admittedly, this is complete conjecture on my part). This is the first time he's been in "true rebuild" mode.

He's also still saddled with a number of high dollar contracts that are difficult to move and take up a lot of the cap. Yes, you can argue that they were negotiated by Stan, but they were also done at a time when they were still trying to win now (except Seabrook's - that one still blows my mind). Regardless of what we say, he's got the reigns of this team and I'm optimistic on the (very) early returns.

The draft choices the past few years appear to be more promising in terms of quality talent whom I feel may develop into NHL players. The comparison I would give is the draft period 2010 -2015/16. The success of the prospects in terms of advancing to the NHL and establishing the value, though, is going to depend a great deal upon Stan to get with the rest of the league and bring in more toughness

Not just gritty players who compete. But players who will play a boards game, whom cycle the puck as it relates to the forwards. You see this in the NHL playoffs the past few years and realize (shoud we even make it to the playoffs) that we will get spanked if Stan doesn't toughen up.

I don't have facts or stat's to support my opinion. Just look at the skill and reports on our prospects, though, and believe good things are coming if only Stan toughens up.

Where have you been? Stan Blowman has failed at everything he’s ever been tasked with doing...don’t ya know?

New blog! Some reminiscing of Dave Bolland, Marcus Kruger, and Andrew Shaw and reflecting on whether the Blackhawks have facsimiles of them in the system to restore the rat mentality that has been missing on the team.

The escrow works the other way the money is withheld from the players.

Minimum wage part time work at the stadium isn't going to pay any bills
