Wasn't aware hitting the post is not a goal. Thanks for that insight as it is appreciated.

Did you play hockey at all at any level? Ice, roller, street?

I had a respectable career in driveway hockey. Not hall of fame worthy but I held my own.

All joking aside, rod hockey was my favorite toy as a kid.

Long way to go until opening night, but assuming all forwards are healthy & Frost makes the team, here's what I'd like to see them try at the start.

G - Couts - Konecky
Laughton - Hayes - Farabee
Lindblom - Frost - Jake
Raffl - Patrick - NAK

JVR next man up. 4C may not be the ideal spot for Patrick. I just really don't know if someone with the projected offensive upside of Frost should be put in a 4C role. And I don't really see a spot for him as a top 9 wing right now. So I would start Patrick at 4C almost by default. If Frost doesn't make the team, then a healthy Patrick would be 3C.
IMO G & Laughton are both better players at LW than they are at C, and both have earned the right to start out in the top 6. That could change if Oskar picks up right where he left off prior to getting sick.

Why has Laughton earned a top 6 wing spot?

JVR still produces; he was what the #5 scorer last year? The coaches need to adjust and find a better way to utilize him. Very silly to me to have him in the press box.

If you're locking JVR into a top 6 spot, then I agree that he is still capable of producing. He would almost certainly finish with a few more goals than either Laughton or Lindblom. But to me G, Laughton, & Lindblom are significantly better all-around players that bring much more versatility to the lineup. IMO, if JVR isn't being played in the top 6, then there's not much point in dressing him. And I guess I'd just prefer to have the better all-around players in the lineup over the 5-8 more goals that JVR would produce over the course of the season. I'm confident that the drop-off in individual goal totals from JVR to one of those other guys could be made up by the rest of the team.

As far as Laughton being the top 6, that's definitely debatable. That decision actually has a lot to do with Frost being at 3C. I just think a healthy Lindblom's style could help Frost's transition. That's also part of my logic for having Jake at 3RW, and Farabee at 2RW. Just thought having a vet like Jake could also help out Frost.

this is exactly why no one should listen to this nerd. it's like when kanye told letterman he's never voted: "then you don't get a say in this"

what a joke. but go one and tell everyone with certainty about anything involving hockey
