It might cost them money to play this season, but that's likely in their best interests when you consider franchise values over the long term. Even billionaires can't afford to have customers lose interest in their product. - YeOldTimer

Its a fractured concept now in a world of selective sources of truth and facts. Technology was supposed to bridge the divides. Instead its created more platforms for discontent. |

In these trying times much will be lost. The NBA PO viewership was way down. Idk how well the NHL did. Shutting down for an entire season before took a long time to recover from. As you said teams net worth suffers & owners feel it. No easy solution other than working through it. The brand has taken huge financial hits with some owners maybe unable to continue. |

I don't think they're worried about the net worth of their franchises because none of them are trying to sell their teams, all of these owners have other sources of income, hockey teams are just hobbies for billionaires. As soon as this Covid thing is over the values will return. |

It has been reported that the bubbles cost the league 75-90 million, so I doubt they will want to go down that road again, for a regular season. |

Some were talking a while back that it could be 5 years before hockey related revenue catches up to where it was before covid.

That was for two bubbles too. NBA single bubble cost 180M
Rosters that are like half the size too. |

I can see it taking that long, but I am in a pom-pom mood today, so it will only take about 10 post-covid games, to get back on track. |

It probably helped the nhl, that the rinks were owned/controlled by the host nhl team |

None of these owners made their money from owning a hockey team, well maybe the Wirtz because they've owned that team since 1954, but all the rest bought hockey teams because they didn't know what to do with billions earned in other businesses, like I said these are side businesses or hobbies. |

During the last lockout, the NHL started on January 20th and they played a 48 game schedule.
The 2020-21 season is the final year of the NHL’s TV deal with NBC which was for 10 years and $2 billion.
The NHL is a gate driven league and Statista.com estimates teams lose $1.3 million per game without having fans, and $215,000 on food and drinks. |

Salmon Arm actually reeks thanks to an ever-expanding chicken farm/ processing plant. Nelson is nice, especially if you go to the outlying areas. |

We like Blind Bay when we retire. Idk if Mini’s line of work would make sense there.
Still think Kamloops is a nice growing area if located in a nice place. We like reasonably close proximity to Vancouver. Nelson is nice but Castlegar & Trail nearby are holes lol |

The orca is good. The gradient is not. The skate was unforgivably snubbed. Either way, Jake Virtanen and Loui Eriksson will be alternating a top 6 spot all season long, you’ll be so drunk you won’t even notice what they’re wearing
