Nothing to do with rights and freedoms bullpoop, that's such a cop out excuse to the issue. I ride the ferry regularly and am an essential worker. Overhight and commercial vehicles go on the closed decks. I don't know if you've ridden the ferry recently but half the space is taped off so you have to run elbows in a confined space with a bunch of mouth breathers walking around with a water bottle and a granola bar. We're in the middle of a pandemic and you aren't allowed to self isolate in your vehicle, doesn't make sense.
Not to mention the shear volume of Vancouverites going to their weekend place or friends house despite the fact that there is a health order forbidding their travel outside the health regions. Half the bathrooms are also out of service forcing everyone into a smaller space.
I don't believe that it's a safety thing, rather that it's a fiscal liability and a union thing. They were able to leave people in the cars by having patrols between stops, this eliminated some of the down time for the deck staff and increased the financial burden to the corporation.
I'll sign a waiver, (frank) it, let me stay in my car.
Rant over, I had to ride the ferry today, poop be frustrating.
I am not directing this at you, sorry if it seems that way, just frustrating on the boat. - Pres.cup
I’ve been on the ferry twice recently. There weren’t enough people to make any space I was in crowded, and both times we “just made it on”.
I agree, the lower deck was “safe” for decades. It’s probably an insurance thing. But there are plenty of places up top where you can sit without too much close contact with another human. Especially if you make yourself unpalatable to be around, which you seem to be pretty good at

My heart again breaks
Alas cruel world devoured
Sour is my vintage
SGI to Vancouver run, Salish class, tiny steep stairways from the deck, breathing mouth breathers stale air. No thanks, honestly instead of an extra half hour coffee between stops for the crew, walk the decks like they did at the beginning of covid, embrace the fear and stop the pandemic.
Play in tournament same as NBA. January start. - VanHockeyGuy
Play in tournament is before the playoffs for them. Which to me makes no sense if you are having a 72 game schedule in the NBA. Why do you need a play in. If NHL has more then 48 games i'd say no reason for a play in to the playoffs.
• Dec. 11-19, 2020: Preseason games

Are you honestly worried the ring will get too crowded.
They have a bunch of retired jerseys and no cups. Whatever, it’s all marketing. - 1970vintage
I've only been to Roger's arena once. Maybe they should have a different place for players like Gino with a picture and stats and such and that's where they could put the more likeable stand out players but ones that won't make the ring of honour.
Scary stuff for people in Nunavut this week, the community of Arviat reported it's first case of Covid last Friday, as of yesterday they had over 60 cases in the territory. Shit spreads so fast
I'd like to go see what the TML thread feels about Matthews being 5th. - manvanfan
I don’t think he should be that high because he doesn’t distribute the puck well enough, guys one of the best goal scorers in the league but you can’t be one of the better centers and have a career high of 36 assists in a season.
He’s essentially a Steven Stamkos clone, but Stamkos is 17th and Matthews is 6th?
AHL could go with an all-Canadian division
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: There is the possibility of an all-Canadian division in the AHL as well because of the Canada-US border restrictions. Already in Canada are the Belleville Senators, Toronto Marlies, Laval Rocket and Manitoba Moose.
The Vancouver Canucks (Utica), Calgary Flames (Stockton) and Edmonton Oilers (Bakersfield) are able to move their teams to Canada but haven’t done so yet because of the cost to do so.

The ECHL announced they’re not having a northern division this season, AHL could do the same. Won’t affect the Canucks though.

Other than the 14 day quarantine period, when trying to recall a player.
Anyways, this could be all for nought, if they implement the travel restrictions between provincial borders.

Scoring goals in the NHL is hard. I'll admit that. He's much better defensively than Stamkos ever was.
He's still not a Selke guy, 16th in voting among forwards. Was 4th in scoring among NHL centers though. (Technically 10th in PPG though)
#92 Vasily Podkolzin is back in SKA's line-up this morning as their 13TH forward. No words for this. From the first line to healthy scratch to 13th forward. #FreePodz #FireBragin

They might be able to carry more players, NHL, who knows?
I agree.
They should implement the non-essential travel to the island, like they have talked about recently, as well.
I personally think the Doctors across the country have suggested a "circuit-breaker" for 28 days,
JUST DO IT.
Horgan says an Island travel ban is a possibility. No mainlanders to the island spreading the virus and no youngsters going to Vancouver catching it and bringing it back.
