I'd be ok with this, but would rather see them with a top 5 this year (preferably barely miss the playoffs, but win the lottery for a top 3 pick), and then make the playoffs next year.
I think playoff experience is so valuable, and want them to really be able to make a run in the 22-23 season. - tvetter
Yes we need to pick a top center/forward or a top dman who playsca physical game. Both are avaliable in the top ten. A top five pick would add a really good talent. I would try really hard to get a second first round, #15-20 range and go after either thevgoaltebfer or a forward. You would be addingbteo future top level talent. Which we need to complement all the bottom line kids
I see a whole lot of compete if we pull it off. Right now Murphy and a #2 won't get you an early first. With that goalie there, i would offer Murphy, our #2 2021 and our #1 2022 for Kraken or some team's top ten pick in 2021. I want the dman and either the hoaltender or center. Teo top talents for sure
Maybe after this season we could offer Keith plus our #2 in 2022 fir their #1 in 2022. So we get a first back in 2022. And therefore can draft a top player in 2022 drsft |

If anyone was hoping major details about the 2020-21 NHL season would be settled by the weekend, think again. Wednesday’s events have knocked things off course, and the players — feeling angry and betrayed — will need time to regroup. (via @FriedgeHNIC) |

Great story! Thanks for sharing!
Although his shelf life as an impact player was razor thin, I actually had a deep appreciation for Desjardins. Despite his short tenure, reading articles about and quotes by him showed that he was beloved by his teammates and he highly respected Toews as a captain who truly gave him the time of day, and not just about hockey but just about daily life.
When the Hawks won in 2015, it was cool to see him being 4th in line (as a 4th liner) to lift up the Cup after Timonen, Vermette, and Richards. - Theo Fox
Loved Desjardins and was actually supposed to be at his Stanley Cup party (one of his best friends is a buddy of mine) until the whole town of Linely, Ontario found out and I got bumped off the list. |

Don Fehr and Gary Bettman will speak again today. The NHL has asked for an additional 16% deferred salaries and adjustments to escrow limits in the last three years of the CBA. Both sides are committed to playing, but this is a big ask and will require much more negotiating. |

I’m going to respectfully disagree on your Murphy trade. You are giving up a good with size RD, plus a 1st in 2022 and a 2nd in 2021, for a 1st in 2021, albeit a top ten pick. How do you know that our 1st in 2022 will not be a top ten pick? We are in no position to be trading picks, we need to acquire picks, not trade them away. Imagine the Kraken picking first overall in 2022, no thanks. |

If Seabs is healthy and plays a more physical game than he has in the past couple of years, you could have Seabs, Murph and Zadorov taking the body. Carlsson also does not shy away from contact. Neither does Dehaan if his shoulders are healthy. The defense may not necessarily be better but it will be more fun to watch.
In the same vein, if Shaw is healthy, Shaw, the Marx brothers (Janmark and Wallmark), Dach, Toews, Carp, Highmore could provide some physicality up front.
Grit and sandpaper is somewhat contagious. On past teams when Shaw, Seabs, Eager, Bickell, Bolland, Rosival, Sopel, started throwing their weight around the whole team started playing with more energy and even non-physical players got involved.
The team defense and goaltending probably is going to be bad. They probably will be a lottery team again. But if they play with an edge it will at least give us a reason to watch. - -Doh-
If Keith, Seabrook, Murphy and deHaan are in the lineup in 2021 - then Stan's proclamation of going in a new direction is BS. None of those 4 guys will be on the team when we arrive at the destination this new direction is taking us - or if they are they will be over the hill and/or injured. The only rationale for playing veteran players in 2021 and 2022 is to keep the team from being so bad the young players become disillusioned and lose confidence.
The vision has to go beyond 2021 and 2022 - everything done in the 2021 and 2022 seasons should be geared for the 2023 season at the earliest.

(this link has a video of Tourigny talking to Dach and Cozens then you see them grab their gear and leave to the locker room)
@TSNRyanRishaug
Kirby Dach and Dylan Cousins did not skate with their group this morning. They showed up to the 11:30 skate right at 11:30 as coach Tourigny had gathered the group to get started. He had a chat with both guys, fist bumped both, but had them leave. They watched from the stands. |

Tourigny clarified that Dach and Cozens had treatment, and that’s the main reason they were behind, but stresses there needs to be communication about these things. Reiterated that they made the choice to take the hit and leave, rather than allow rules to be loosened for them. |

I shake my head when people say "employee's owe owners" for their down business cycle. Most Franked up thing I have ever heard and I have heard some good ones as an executive of GM and International Harvester. I'm about as far from a union guy as you can get. |

I disagree as well. Daft choices are far from a sure thing. Kyle Beach was a first round forward with size. So was McNeil. |

I believe hockey will happen, I'm absolutely positive players and owners don't want the broadcasting companies to keep it. Part of negotiating, threats, they are being unfair, no they are being unfair, blah blah blah |

I was supposed to be at Ray Emery’s as well.
Netflix should pick me up for a limited-time mini-series - I have stuff to say! Ha. |

Stan did not proclaim that this new direction would be completed by day one of the upcoming season (whenever that is). It is a transition that will play out over the next year or two. In season trades and the expansion draft could accelerate the timeline. The rationale for playing them is to establish that they are healthy and increase trade value. There is also no rationale to rush the youngest dmen. |

True, but all we have is the evidence to date which shows Keith, Seabrook, Murphy and deHaan still on the roster. In the best case scenario the main pieces of the rebuilt team will be in place for the 2023 season but probably more realistically by the 2024 season. None of those guys will be on the team in 2024 or if they are they won't be key pieces. Playing them in 2021 serves only one purpose - keeping the ship afloat while the kids get experience. Having all 4 of those guys in the lineup on a regular basis in 2021 does not serve the mission.

The players chose to owe the owners that money. Otherwise the cap would be at $50 million (or whatever) this year and no free agents would be able to be signed. That's what happens when players agree to a 50-50 revenue split and then keep raising the salary cap even though the revenue doesn't justify it. They've been given bad advice by their union and agents.

Did you get invited to David Runblad's party instead and you said, "Thanks but no thanks, I've got stuff to do."
Maybe they add you as a character to Schitt's Creek and document your escapades. |
