It was and still is more viable then trade cap dumps that's all I am accountable on. I have long recognized for weeks that it wasn't going to happen. Though moving on and adapting to changing circumstances doesn't seem to satisfy your judgement.

Somebody asked, what I’m sure they felt was, an important question. Myse signed his deal one year ago. He’s only been a Canuck one year. He has what, five more years to go? My point is, Schmitty is now in the same spot as Myers one year ago, so how long until knuckleheads want to start buying him out?

Also, Northy, not calling you a knucklehead, I never wanted to sign Myers in the first place, but I wouldn’t waste $ buying him out.

Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The NHL is hoping to have the players defer 13 percent of their 2020-21 salary according to multiple sources. The players agreed to a 10 percent deferral back when they agreed on the six-year CBA extension back in July. Escrow is capped at 20 percent.


The 10 percent deferral is to be paid back without interest in October of 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Prorating salaries can’t happen according to the CBA Memo of Understanding but it does state: “The parties also agree to continue discussions regarding the possibility of allowing Players and Clubs to negotiate additional deferrals on a case-by-case basis.”

If the players agreed, their pay would be 61.6 percent guaranteed for next season with 23 percent eventually paid back.

The league is still hoping to start the season on January 1st, with 14 days of training camp and playing between 48 and 60 games. Teams that didn’t make the RTP get some extra time for camp

So the pro rating salary reports are misleading. The addition to the retention agreement, of the summer CBA, is deferring more salary to later years. Seems legit to accept given revenue streams will go down ad playing costs up. Probably more so by needing hybrid bubbles to start.

I'm going to give you a chance because I think you are a victim of drinking Marwood's koolaide. Sven was never mentioned. LE MTA, only POSSIBLE, if we had normal times with a working Utica. Again, it was a counter to trade dump speculation. Which at the time looked more improbable because of the flat cap. JB has no leverage now and have been saying it for several weeks. Granted I don't know how much I watch, they mostly play in the background but they play!

Without fans in the seats, I just don't see how the NHL can have a season with very little revenue.
The league has an existing deal in the US, that was for 2 billion for 10 years, so let's say 200 million per, the sports net deal is 300-500million per season, so say 400 million this year, that makes TV deals worth 600 million, with some small regional TV deals
I would think some advertising dollars are available so say another 100 million, that makes 700 million in revenue coming in.
If that is divided by the 31 teams, that is less than 23 million per team, which is 3x less than the cap floor.
Ya, I just don't see how a viable season can take place.
