They probably play for another random AHL or ECHL team on loan. The Leafs play the salary, the other team gets a free player. Like when Kasky played for the chicago wolves.

For me it's not the personality. It's the player, at the price. I love the kid's skill and enthusiasm, and I'll be in here whooping it up when he dazzles us with pretty plays. But, let's be perfectly honest about what he is - a perimeter player, special teams specialist. Do you guys like his game 5 v. 5? At his pricetag, I don't. Maybe, hopefully, he'll prove me wrong and develop into a player that can dictate and dominate in 5 v 5 play, especially playoff style hockey.

His personality hasn't really soured on me. I just get angry everytime I see him in a commercial.

He destroyed the Leafs in those contract negotiations. He got massive bonuses/a cap hit 1.5 million too high/to play for a team that allows him to get endorsements/to stay near home/6 years instead of 8...

The leafs didn't get any concessions from the Marner camp as far as I'm concerned.

I haven’t soured on him but he sucked in the return to play last year. He made so many awful plays.

Hopefully he comes back better this year.
