I could see Ralphie-boy spreading out the scoring more,
Hall - Jack - ? (Olofsson/Tage/Routs/Girgs/Okposo)
Skinner - Staal - Cozens
Olofsson/Routs/Tage - Eakin - Sam
Girgs - Lazar - Okposso - IonSabres
I agree.

It would be an enormous cost to house all those players. Maybe Terry can get them a group rate at the Harborcenter Marriott - jcragcrumple
I am waiting for the Sabres to be one of several teams who shut it down for a year.
Someone projected the cost to be about $150m per team on average (not sure how they got to an additional $70m on top of the $81.5m cap). If that is true, and the Sabres already operate at a loss with Gate Revenues, I just can't see how the Pegula Lifestyle will be maintained. |

$81.5 million in cap
Now for an 82 game season, figure in travel and accommodations on the road, food, training staff, coaches payroll, operations people, etc etc
I am sure you're looking at $100 million per season easily in expenses $150 isn't that hard to get to either |

I wasn't disputing it, just don't know how they came up with it to be able to explain it. At $70m over 82 games, it is close to $900k per game all up all in on a very simplistic view that doesn't separate out fixed costs like front office / staff salaries, etc, to get to the variable costs for each game.
I wish there was some level of break out...would be interesting to know .

No offense to you, but I would indeed be shocked to see that lineup.
I could see them having Cozens playing 3C, but that 3rd line would need vets to play with him.
And Tage doesn't excite me in the least, but I suspect they'll give him a shot before Routs - IonSabres

We have seen what this team looks like with Risto and Monty
I think you missed the part where I said I just want to be entertained and see a high flying offense
We aren't even sure this team is a playoff team (some say yes some say no)
This isn't anywhere near a contending team, so why not have a short 48 game season where we can watch some entertaining games?
My expectations for this year are extremely low. My hopes are this:
Cozens looks good and belongs and transitions from playing the wing to center
Dahlin takes a big leap to looking like the player we hoped for drafting 1st overall
Eichel and Hall light it up and Hall decides to stay a bit longer
Skinner bounces back
Even those 4 things might be a stretch.
This roster has major holes everywhere, signing Hoffman to a 1 year deal isn't going to change the franchise, but it will at least give us some entertaining games to watch. - Stripes77
If they can get better goaltending and with the Veteran presence they brought in, help this young team get through ruff patches and just not fold, I could see them making a little noise. They can play good Hockey proved that with their streaks, just could never get out of that black hole when things fell apart. Brought in some guys who can help with that. I still think you see another goaltender before the start of the season. |

Interesting read.
https://www.forbes.com/si...le-teams/?sh=3e2450c850e2
Summary:
Forbes estimates for 2017-2018 season, the Sabres had Operating Income of $5.3m off $128m in Revenues...before expenses including Taxes, Interest, Depreciation and Amortization are charged off. So Operating Expenses of $122.7m. The value of the franchise was estimated at $375m.
A breakdown of Revenues and Expenses wasn't presented.
Going off their estimates, one could make the cases that the following franchise may be in the 6 - 8 who are rumored to prefer to shut down the season, as most lost money while The Wild and Sabres were at the low-end of profitability...
- Anaheim
- NY Isles
- Columbus
- Minnesota
- Florida
- Ottawa
- Carolina
- Sabres |

In general, I thought Ralph did a commendable job of bringing the team out of many dunks without letting it last more that a few/couple/limited games. They had a number of down turns but he kept them to 3 or so games rather than 7, 8, 9...
I agree that Hall, Staal and Eakin should help refocus the team...and I get the feeling Jack is going to absolutely bust out |

Totally off topic, but at least it’s not political or coronical, check out this footage of surfing shot from under water. Way cool. At 1:30 see the guy getting sucked over the falls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1waqQQqM6ew |

Need a goalie and LD. Still think a goalie will be traded for and I would give Columbus a call, see if Harrington is available. |

Speculation has the Division consisting of
Boston
Washington
NY Isles
NY Rags
Philly
Pittsburgh
NJ
Sabres
That is going to be tough sledding.

I'm gonna stick by what I wrote in the blog. I think if they can upgrade goaltending and add a defensive-minded lhd-man, they'll have enough to overtake NJD and NYR. |

I think we are pretty much on the same page, expressed differently.
In 8 team realigned division, they ...
-MP: finish 6th assuming upgrades in G and LhD
-Ion: finish no higher than 6th as presently constructed.
Close enough for Gov't work. |
