Growing up in St-Lazare,QC I was a massive Roy fan. I even played goalie. The summer they won the cup with the canadians in the 90's, they played a softball game against our volunteer firefighters. After the game a chased him for an autograph. He was the only Canadian not meeting people. I was the only person to chase him as he jogged to the team bus. I asked him for the autograph and I'll never forget what my hero told my 8 year old self...In broken english (I am anglo)he said with great passion "f'f'f'f (frank) off kid". I was so deflated. The security witnessed what happened. He felt bad and gave me his gatorade water bottle. I quickly forgot what happened as I was so happy to have this bottle!!! Needless to say after meeting Martin Brodeur I quickly changed goalie religions.

This is good news. Means action is coming, makes sense to have him come back and do is quarantine snd all that so that he can be ready for camp

Besides, he got rid of the rust and there’s no point risking injuries with the NHL season coming.

Your guess is as good as mine there... i think Bettman and Fehr are in regular talks but right now the players are trying to swallow the pill of the owners wanting more salary deferred even though the new CBA was signed 4 months ago. The players are not doing themselves any good there I think a lot of people lost their job period and they are having a fit over getting money later...i mean come on... and yeah the new cba was signed during the pandemic but i dont think anyone thought back then that the consequences would be so dire for so long...

I hope they sort it out asap i need hockey

I actually managed to get a Roy autograph once.

I waited outside the Forum with my dad after a game and a few players came in to say hello.

I get Guy Carbonneau's autograph, then Kirk Muller, then Vincent Damphousse. I'm already psyched but I'm hoping to get Roy since he's my favorite player.

Here comes Jacques Demers, I didn't really care about the coach but he comes in and sign my team picture as well. Roy walks behind him, clearly he's not going to come and say hello and while Demers is signing my picture, I tell my dad, Patrick Roy is leaving.

Seeing me sad, the coach turns around and yells "PATRICK! LE PTIT GARS VEUT UN AUTOGRAPHE!".

Roy came in and signed, barely saying anything to me or my dad.
