Like winning a playoff round? - Scabeh
I’ll allow it..
They need to win more than a round to be thought of as having any kind of success.
Sundin’s gold in Torino cemented his legacy as a great. No one cares he took the leafs to two ECF’s. |

Im with fifty as well.
Once the nice weather hits, unless by some miracle the leafs are deep in the playoffs, i have better things to do then watch hockey.
But i dont see the nhl going past june anyway. - Fakepartofme
Ehh... watching a hockey game on the patio with some beers on a warm summer night sounds pretty (frank)ing beautiful to me. |

That's Phil in the corner
That's Tock in the spot light
Losing Ekman-Larsson
Trying to get Phil to eat healthy
And I don't know if he can do it
Oh no Phil ate too much
He ate it all |

His lack of a Stanley Cup is a glaring hole on his resume. And I love me some Mats. |

Idk. The later this thing goes, the farther this season wraps around into spring/summer, the less people will watch anyway. This time of year, now until mid April is when I want to hunker and watch hockey. After that, unless for some miraculous reason our Leafs actually win a first round series, I'm done. They need to get this thing on the ice asap or just throw in the towel. - fifty__missions
We put a TV in the backyard, so we would have friends over (socially distancing, of course) "to watch the game." But I didn't actually pay attention to the game.
Yeah, if the Leafs were in, I'd be glued to it.
But I honestly thought I'd be more interested - thought watching hockey outside would be fun. It was background noise. |

Oh for sure.
Winning at the international level surely helps cement any legacy as one of the greats.
The level of international play, when the NHL players are allowed to join, has no equal.

I'm off all week, but got a request to walk some people through something.
OK, fine, nice break from cleaning the basement out - shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
I just looked - they booked the meeting for an hour.

They're both going to have to face reality and cut a deal, imo - split the massive hit the industry is taking. Players will need to move off expecting their contracts paid in full. And do it sooner than later. Deep sixing the entire season will have disastrous longer term ramifications, possibly few teams and fewer jobs. People will simply move on from hockey. - fifty__missions
They just signed a deal that include (apparently) all possible outcomes.
Now the owners want to toss that aside?
If im a player, i say hell no. |

In the summer, it was hard to watch the games with no fans.. The first week of games was weird. I would watch the Leafs games, but I struggled to maintain interest in any other series. So, I spent time with family |

Ive done that, unless the leafs are playing, no one cared about the game
Rather sit by the firepit, play horseshoes.
But to each their own.

I got used to watching without fans, the experience really wasn't all that different for me in the end. Got pretty sick of the fake crowd noises though, I could've lived without that. |

That's the thing, right? Players made a lot of concessions in July to start the Return to Play format. Now, just over 4 months later, they are being asked to do it again..
On the flipside, teams are losing money and have no revenue stream...
It's gonna get ugly unless one side gives in. |

Considering Pierre "I'm cumming in my pants Sidney" Maguire votes on the HHOF selection committee, all you need to do is win WJC Gold and you're a bonafide MONSTAR! |

I agree, the fake crowd noise was annoying... I'll be honest, unless it was a Game 7 of a series, or the Cup Final I didn't pay much attention to the playoffs this past summer. |

Ok, let’s say the players buy into the argument that COVID is worse and more money is going to be lost.
Why is it that the only part of the deal that changes is salaries and escrow are rolled back? Every Bettman solution treats all franchises the same and makes sure to save the bottom feeders without threatening his precious parity.
If some teams are in real trouble, roll back the cap floor, bring in a luxury tax, allow some teams that can spend to spend. I’m not sure that these are the right moves but he’s going to threaten everything to save a few.
