NBA seems to be taking that route as well. NHL may need to decide do we just say frank it play or take every precaution and wait a few more months. We will see how big of balls they have |

Isn't odd that you need a positive test to even know you have it?
Isn't it odd that all we hear about are CASES, not deaths, like with every other previous (legit) pandemic?

NFl learned people would watch replacement players during the strike in the 80s. The super bowl could have 4th stringers playing each other, and people would still watch.
The NHL doesn't have that luxury. If the stars are out, ratings will go down the tubes and the league needs to ensure they do this right so there are not outbreaks. As dark as it's getting, I guess it really was a good thing to complete this past season. Imagine if we had two consecutive years potentially of no cup being awarded? |

The few folks I know who’ve actually experienced COVID, said that it was one of the most vicious illnesses they’ve endured. Only one had to be hospitalized (thankfully), but the others were all down for damn near 2 weeks.
Hyper lethal like past pandemics? No (thankfully). Doesn’t mean that precautions shouldn’t be taken however. |

I find it telling that these anti-maskers like to point at the lack of fatalities (‘cause 1.4M around the world is insignificant, even if you claw back a percentage for reporting errors ) as proof that we are over-reacting. Not once have I heard any of them talk about the fact the you could live the rest of your life with serious health issues that anyone would rather not have to deal with. We have zero knowledge of what life will be like as these patients age.
But hey, (frank) it! I want a beer and a sandwich so open up the (frank)ing economy!!! |

Didn't the Navy have a hospital ship there in NewYork's harbour? didn't it treat like 10 people and then go away after a few months of sitting empty with a 1000 beds and ventilators?
Didn't the Javits Centre have 1000 makeshift beds that went unused? all with ventilators?
WHO said there were like 10% of the world population had been infected so that's around 800 million people and the this guy said 1.4 million deaths worldwide... seems like a pretty small number...
india has like 44 deaths per 1,000,000... isn't it better to concentrate on the vulnerable and let everyone else go about their business...
suicideds, drug overdoses, depression, and other impacts going through the roof... businesses ruined, retirment destroyed, people's lives completely upended... |
