You're point? If you look at the advancement of our rockets, in a 100 years we will have ones that travel 3-5x that fast turning 137,000 years in to 27,400 - 45,666 year travel. In 200 years it could be down to a 100 year journey or less. Who knows how far we are from achieving light spend travel? could be 100 years, could be 300, could be 50(not bloody likely) for all we know.

I was putting the problem of space travel into perspective. If you want to talk science fiction I’m all for that; warp speed or light speed. People don’t rationally talk about it yet because it’s too fantastical. Might as well talk time travel or worm holes based on what you wrote above.

Again, to put 20,000 mph into perspective, that’s like 26x the speed of sound. There are physical limitations to what humans can endure.

I like them, after Tom passed Mike went to play with Fleetwood Mac. Also started the Dirty Knobs, hear they will tour once this sh*tshow is over.

I knew about the Fleetwood Mac thingy. This is cool.

Feel like I might be in the wrong thread?

So I'm tiptoeing in to let you know that I'd just posted a new blog...

Recognizing one’s existence and contemplating one’s existence is different. We are not only rationalizing our place in the universe but rationalizing the entire universe and everything in it. It’s amazing and we don’t give ourselves the credit deserved.

We always think there’s something more intelligent out there. What if we are the most advanced?

- bloatedmosquito

In general, your ideas are pretty anthropocentric. There’s other beings likely capable of rationalizing in a completely nonhuman epistemic way, that could easily be more “advanced” than us. Regardless, speaking of something like this as impossible when one of the world’s leading astrophysicists says it’s not only possible but likely is quite a frail limb. You can keep saying physics, but i don’t think the physicists universally agree with you.

Again, it’s just hypothetical thinking. This started with me questioning the reality of aliens visitation. I think it’s ridiculous. But it’s only an opinion.

I never understood why an alien would put flashing lights on their spaceship. Is that so nobody runs into them while they zoom around is space? Geez, how much traffic is out there?

This, except the scared part. Distances and time are far too great for us to “discover” each other, let alone ever meet. I like this example...

The star Alpha Centauri (closest star to our own sun) is about 4 light-years away. What if we wanted to travel to Alpha Centauri? Our fastest rockets today move at about 20,000 mph. Alpha Centauri is 24 trillion miles away from our sun. The trip would take 1.2 billion hours or 137,000 years.

That's a long time. You can start to see that it’s virtually impossible to visit other stars - even the closest star would take hundreds of thousands of years to reach.

This is where quantum physics and the theory of relativity diverge.

Wormholes and interdimensional travel are theoretically possible especially for a species that is infinitely more advanced then our own.

That’s totally fine and agreeable, saying it’s not possible according to physics is not.

All good man. If we all agreed on everything would be pretty boring in here. Well...from a Minion perspective anyways lol

True, but the species more advanced than us must have made a similar calculation as some point, and eventually proved to be the most advanced as their technology grew. We also don't know what kind of evolution changing events may have happened on those other planets. What religions did they have? Religion is the biggest killer of the human race becoming more advanced, are they the same? Though you are 99.9999...9% right in your assumptions, we can not say for certain that we are not the most advanced currently. Other races could have gone to war and wiped each other out, leaving all that technology unused for all we know.
My buddy had a good thought on it:

"What if evolution on out planet was brought about by advanced races, looking to eventually have warriors to fight in a war that has been raging for hundreds of thousands of years?"

I always think that is possible, because many civilizations on earth have a history that shows that beings from the sky's gave them knowledge to advance. He also thinks that certain metals needed for inter solar system/galactic travel could have been purged from out planet before we even evolved by these races.

Excellent post, the Hindu script, I forget what it's called, has a great description of a spaceship complete with life support and fuel.

That's the flip side of quantum physics, once you go down that wormhole and accept a possibility as probable, almost any variable becomes a possibility, including pre human civilizations and technologies, I'm not sure on the math with it but I believe the theoretics of it work out to it being as probable that we are not the first species on this planet to develop our current level of technology as it is probable that we aren't. It's that infinite possible dimensions that opens up mathematically that make what seems improbable, possible.

Picking and choosing which science is valid is a very confusing and common thing these days.
- neem55

It's warm and cozy like a warm blanket to only use confirmation based science to back up one's belief.

It's called confirmation bias and is an automatic debate loss due to its logical fallacy.

There are physical limitations to the amount of Gs we can take during acceleration and deceleration, there is not a cap on how far our bodies can go.

We are also talking about theoretically more advanced species, worm holes and interdimensional travel are theoretically possible at the cutting edge of math and science. They have done it with particles before. Our known technology is not advanced enough yet though. Although there is also a theory that the technology available to civilians is at least three generations behind that which is available to the military research branches.

100 years ago a computer/ cell phone/ spaceship where all as outlandish as what this discussion encompasses. Who's to say that some of this tech doesn't exist.

Back to relativity, the close to the speed of light your noisy travels the slower time passes, with solar sails(real thing, they use the suns radiation to sail) and other tech(nuclear powered proton engines) it is possible to be in a state of constant acceleration until you behind to decelerate, that would mean that for the occupants, that 1000 year journey would theoretically only last 10 years or so, most being the acceleration and deceleration process.

Isn't math fun!

I’m bored and don’t want to give billionaires arguing with millionaires a second of my time, so let’s debate topics of contention for poops and giggles.

Next; the meaning of life.
