Wouldn't make much sense. Leafs are at the cap like many teams. Would only trade Willie if the player coming back is a better player, not the dogsh!t thats being mentioned. Let's talk about how Tampa is going to unload Tyler Johnson and his puke contract. A first and a second and Johnson to the Wings for a seventh and some leftover turkey - winsix

Neither Provorov nor Sanheim make any sense. Both are LHD and we've already got two pretty good ones in Rielly and Muzzin.
Myers is the only guy on Philly that the Leafs would want in return for Willie and there's zero chance the Flyers would want to part ways with him at this point. |

Provorov would be Leafs' best D-man right away - so of course that would make sense.
Rielly - Provorov top pair would be one of best top pairings in the NHL |

Ehh... I think Rielly, at this point, is better than Provorov.
No way they'd be paired together anyway.
So nope, makes zero sense. |

If the leafs were to trade nylander it would’ve been at the draft or around it. Hell they could’ve traded him for assets and picked up Nate Schmidt for a 6th from Vegas. |

they'll trade him when the right offer arises, whenever that may be. |

Agreed.
Seems clear that Dubas wants to run with Willie on this team. Frankly, removing his offense to add more defense at this point seems silly after bringing in Brodie, Bogo, and Lehtonen.
I'm not saying the Leafs have a "great" d-corps, but trading BillNy (whose contract suddenly looks fantastic) would be a serious blow to the balance of this team, IMHO. |

Hoping for a bounce back year from Rielly too. He underperformed last year. Hopefully he can take a big step forward this year. |

terrible defensive player. when he was signed, he was expected to be able to play C, which he cant. he's only played with two elite C's, he's brutal without them. Kerfoot could put up Willys numbers given the opportunity to play with AM/JT.

For sure. But not playing a single healthy game will do that, though. |

I was curious if they were going to announce any kind of surgery for him after the season. He seemed to be aggravated by something the entire year. |

1. Yup, his defense sucks but he scores 30+ goals, has a very nice salary, and - while I doubt he'll ever be a Selke candidate - I'm sure he can improve his game to be more complete.
Kessel was also poop defensively but he was instrumental to the Pens back-2-back Cups. And he arguably should have won a Conn Smythe in that first run. The point? Not every player has to be a 200' guy.
2. He was never expected to play C. There was speculation he might be able to.
3. Who cares if he's "brutal" without AM34 or Snakevares? He plays fantastic when he's with them. Kapanen couldn't put up half the numbers that Willy has been able to while playing on top lines.
4. Kerfoot is not a Top 6 winger. Don't try to pretend he could put up the same numbers as Nylander. |
