It doesn't mean there isn't lots of talk. Ek doesn't predict trades. He just reports what he's hearing from sources. So if he is saying Barzal could be on the move then I believe it's a possible scenario.

Barzal is being offered sheeted by the Devils. Isles won't match. They'll sign power forward Mike Hoffman for 7 years 42 million. Flyers will trade Ghost to Toronto for Nylander. Oilers will sign Haula and trade him to Vegas for MAF. Vegas won't make the playoffs but they will win the Stanley Cup.

Sure they would. He's an RFA, not UFA. So whoever acquires him now controls his rights for many years. I don't think he will be traded. But Ek says it's possible and his sources wouldn't make that up.
