I'm just being real. Ek reports what he hears. A lot of things don't come true. But some of them do (ie see Markstrom going to Calgary). So based on Ek's sources we know a few things:

1) Barzal might sign in NYI
2) Barzal might get traded
3) LA is interested in Barzal, and Barzal is interested in LA

4) Nylander might stay in Toronto
5) Nylander might get traded
6) Flyers are interested in Nylander and the two teams are talking about stuff

I don't know what's funny about just stating facts.

A first, top prospect , and Sanheim. Sure why not. Will the flyers need some lube or bareback? Replace Sanheim with Ghost and I include a 1st and the top prospect. Then work out the other particulars.

Sanheim played 2 extra years junior then 2 years in the AHL.. Did Sanheim stop being a prospect before he got to the big club?

Sanheim would be a good fit on the leafs but he's a lefty. Leafs are stacked up that side for a few seasons. Nylander was 16th in the league in goals last year. The trade doesnt make sense from the leafs side. If it were filling a need like a top 4 RHD, then maybe.

I'm guessing that Barzal doesn't actually want to be a King, but is pretending to be willing to sign an offer sheet with them (one of the few teams with the cap space to do it) in order to pressure the Isles into making him a better contract offer. The Kings may not even really want him (they have enough centers and the price to get him would be high), but are letting themselves be used because it's in their interest to have him re-sign in NY instead of going to another Western team (via offer sheet or trade).

When the vast majority of people say that it's not only bad, but straight up awful, yeah, it's awful.

Sanhiem makes no sense for the Leafs. He plays the left side, so who is he going to bump out to play in the top 4, Rielly or Muzzin? You don't trade a chip like Nylander for a bottom pair defenceman. Myers would make a lot more sense for the Leafs. He plays the right side and he is a big body.

Ek was reporting about the Flames going after Markstrom for weeks before it happened. So I'm sure he has sources, but some rumours don't come true. OK so maybe the Islanders aren't rebuilding. But this doesn't mean there isn't a potential trade partner with LA. So maybe Barzal for Kopitar to give NYI some leadership. Also have you considered a 3-way trade. Barzal ends up in LA which Ek has reported is a dream of his. Maybe Byfield goes to Calgary and Gaudreau goes to NYI?

What if JVR + Ghost was offered? Just kidding. That's more in the realm of Gaudreau or Nylander. I don't think Byfield is going anywhere either. Ek has never mentioned his name so I assume there are no rumours about him. But maybe in a few years. We've seen top prospects like Sergachev get traded or even Seth Jones for Johansen involved two pretty young guys. That one came out of nowhere though. I don't even think Ek had them on the rumour chart that year.

Maybe in the past I was more negative. But he nailed the Markstrom signing in Calgary. Hall didn't end up in Calgary. Lundqvist didn't go to New Jersey. Kane and Toews and Doughty never got traded, but we don't know how close any of these things came to being true. Even the Hoffman signing might have been imminent but then news of a delayed or cancelled season might have put this on hold.

Actually he’s called Melander from his contact negotiations, nothing to do with hockey. Reading our fans boards to come up with your opinion is obvious. A vast majority of Leaf fans do like Nylander on his very team friendly contract.

He isn't a top NHL D prospect, he is a top Leaf D prospect. Big difference.

Regardless, Nylander for Sanheim is a strong no from the Leaf side.

In fact, he’ll be going back to the right side most likely when Zamula and/or York are ready to make the jump.

But still, I frankly don’t wanna give you Sanheim as much as you don’t wanna deal Nylander.
