My only concern is that Holtby has lost his job several times in the past few years. Yes, he won it back, but that sounds like a growing level of inconsistency, which this team can’t really afford given how much they relied on goaltending last season.

Legit concern. It's also within the realm that he could return to form. His career ceiling includes a Vezina, Jennings and Stanley Cup. I don't think a Canuck Goalie has ever had all 3 on his resume. To me, it's worth a 2 year gamble if only to have a guy with that sort of pedigree around to push Demko.

For sure. But that's where they are knocking the Canucks in their standing is based on goaltending. They see losing proven MVP status goaltending to one of potential and uncertainty tandem as a knock down. Can't wait for them to be proven wrong.

With the likely compressed upcoming schedule, including lots of back to backs and 3 in 4's, you're gonna need 2 good goalies that can split the load.

I think this is a pretty perfect scenario of allowing that too occur.
Having Marky signed for 5 years would have been a circus.

I'll disagree here. I'd put the Habs, Leafs, Flames, and Sens in front of them for depth based on the NHL experience of their 3rd stringers. DiPietro is still green by comparison.
