I'd be thrilled to do something like that. I don't think Butcher is particularly valuable on his own, but as a cap relief move he could be.

I agree. He has lost some of his value after last season. I am a fan of the kid simply because he chose to play in Jersey, and helped the club out when they were desperate for a D. Now after watching him play, I feel we have seen all that he provides, and there is still plenty to be desired. That being said, he still has strong 2LD potential on most teams, and for 2 very affordable seasons, should fetch a healthy return. Whether he is moved to a team for a better D with a higher cap hit, like Nurse, or flip him for good prospects similar to the Coleman trade, either move helps the club today and tomorrow.
Now let's look at extending both Gusev and Palms for 2-5 years please!!!! If talks are too far apart, there's some more trade bait 50% retained! But I'd sooner keep those studs.
