DeAngelo played with Staal all year. Johnson not much worse. My money is on Miller to play with Trouba. 2C should be priority. “Identity” is a myth. Bottom 6 improves with a better top 6. Neither Fast or Strome play top 6 on a good team. I don’t expect to be in lottery again. Laf and Shesty from day 1 makes this team better than last year. If 2 of Miller/Hajek/Reunanen/Rykov can be this years Lindgren and Fox, defense will be surprisingly better. 2C will definayely be weak unless Chytil makes a big jump. |

I think the great part of the rebuild is what we have in front of us. A lot of talent with the question of how they fit in and pan out. I say let the bottom 6 unknowns earn their stripes and if they don't, we move on an build the grit and character through other means.
As for the 2C, as other people said. We have a lot of money coming off the books, allocated to ensure we have our core locked up and then look for opportunities for the 2C of our future. I hate to rush that into a crap contract just because we don't like what we got.
Patience is difficult when waiting for the season to start feels like your constipated all the d$(% time. |

Did you just self-censor the word “damn?”
I’m not sure you’re going to fit in here after all. |

Damn it. Not clue how touchy the censorship is on this board.
Don't you worry. My demented thoughts are true and through.
I'll do better I promise. |

that's why I kept telling people to try and calm down about making moves to help the team this coming season, people were losing their minds from the lack of activity
it's always been about just getting through this Covid season with all these buyout dollars on the books and then just watching the development of Kakko, Laf and Shesty
if there ever was a season to have over 14 million in dead money on the books, this is the one |

The Finnish Liiga is postponing all scheduled games from tomorrow through Dec. 19 because of the deteriorating situation with COVID-19 and stricter restrictions imposed in some regions of the country.

I just want a legit 2nd line center and Strome off the roster...not asking too much |

now he's Seattle fodder |

In a flat-Cap era, Strome appears to be the red-headed step child.
Best shot of jettisoning him may be at a trade deadline where we con a GM to think he will provide a playoff boost.

I don't know, I think come deadline time, whenever that may be, the Rangers are still gonna be in the hunt and wont be looking to weaken the team, I don't see us as sellers
I think they'd love for Seattle to take him though

Does anyone think there’s a chance that Lafreniere can/will transition to center at some point? I’m sure it’s highly unlikely but if there’s a player who can do it, he seems to have the right make-up. |

when asked about this before he has said he prefers to play the wing, I wouldn't mess with him and force him into something he isn't

2C is far more important for us because its the only position that we have nothing in our prospect pool to fill.
Were so deep on LH defensive prospects and Miller is just a heart beat away. Miller, Robertson, Reunanen, Jones all talented and poised to get a look on the roster over the next 2 years. Based on what Ive seen of Reunanen in the Finnish leagues, he seems like an excellent bottom pairing minute eater with top 4 potential. He could potentially make the team out of camp.
Bottom 6 identity. We dont have one, which could be good, could be bad however, I feel like its not a difficult thing to fill. Many times these guys are available and rentals, as well as free agents. Ive been very vocal about Chytil and how I dont like him on the 3rd line and how I dont feel he is what I believe a 3rd line center should be. The one and only center we have that I think could be our 3C is Morgan Barron. Hes got all the hockey IQ, and Im glad hes working on his skating with Kreider because it could make him one hell of a player.
2C, no one wins a Stanley Cup without a legitimate 2C. Center depth is too important to the overall balance of a team... and weve got nothing. |

yep, absolutely agree on this, like I have said previously, the shortened season with a cast of characters on the left side including Johnson, Bitetto, Hajek doesn't bother me because I know what's on the way.
I don't see what's on the way down the middle and that's ok, it just needs to be the next major thing addressed
