Nothing is ever a guarantee, even Sanheim or Nylander for that matter. Also, it is true that even if a player for player swap is fair value, it doesn’t mean that it always makes sense with the team’s other pieces or long term. In this case, both players have some track record and are entering their primes so it is more about fit and planning.
If this trade rumor comes again next year in the offseason, folks might feel differently. Hart needs to be re-signed, and we will see what happens with Myers and how the offense looks in another playoffs.
Yes, I do think Zamula will be a quick study and approach NHL readiness quickly. He needs to add strength and weight. All this offseason time will surely help him get to his goals faster. - NC Flyers Fan
You're slowly changing your tune. Do you advocate for this trade or not? I think it's clear that you failed to look at all the variables. Now that you've been made aware of some issues, your opinion is evolving.
Being NHL ready and being ready to take on a heavy workload in a top role on defense are two different things.

If I remember correctly, I think Zam is being mentored by Provy for working out and nutrition. If that is the case, he may progress at a rapid pace. Time will tell. I hope so. Would be nice to have an upside surprise with him. The last was Myers and he was undrafted. |

Being in top shape physically is great but it takes way more. Counting on Zamula right now is not wise.

You need to read what I have said again. To summarize for you...No, I don’t advocate for it now. If it is still available, I would like to revaluate next offseason. I do think as a strictly player-for-player swap, it is fair value (which is why I mentioned it in the first place). Also, depending on how you view the Flyers offense especially in the playoffs and considering the Leafs defensive holes is could help both clubs. The players both entering their primes makes it intriguing.
Additionally, it’s something to talk hockey when there are not a lot of new items to discuss. |

I did read what you said. I took it as you were advocating for it from the very beginning. It wasn't until I pointed out the reality of it and all the factors involved that you realized what it would mean for the team. I think you missed it badly.
Yes, it's been good for discussion. |

Zamula wasn’t in the top 6 on the proposed lineup. It would be the same as now, as an injury call-up this season....not that the trade will even happen. I mentioned him because going from one homegrown player to another homegrown player isn’t the same as overpaying in the UFA market. Ghost was essentially in Sanheim’s spot in the hypothetical scenario. A big risk to be sure.

Having Zamula was one of the reasons you gave for advocating for the trade. That is a mistake. |

There is also the cap implications. You are basically adding 3.7 million to the cap for a straight up swap. So the Flyers most likely couldn't do it this season anyway.
Sanheim is an RFA next season so that is another factor in doing it (or not) before next season. I would rather keep Sanheim and take a risk on Patrick, Lindblom, Frost, Konecny, Farabee etc getting better/more productive.

It’s just a bad trade for the Flyers in general, face the music , bad take. |

It’s not that they couldn’t do it now as opposed to next year, it would just take some salary retention tweaking or an additional trade of a forward. To be clear, I am not advocating for it. But the Leafs retaining 2 mil for 1 season in exchange for a couple of prospects, like Rubtsov and St. Ivany, is one scenario.

If it’s me I send Ghost down to the Phantoms and he stays down there until he hopefully plays his way out of it. I think if there was a trade that would have made sense it would have happened by now.
Not a whole lot of other options for a guy that isn’t playing well and the coach doesn’t seem to favor. |

These 2nd and 3rd pairings are deplorable and your PP is brutal!
Provy - Myers
Ghost - Braun
Hagg - Gus
The Flyers will be a draft lottery participant next year! |

I think the only way Ghost gets his mojo back is having him play meaningful minutes at the NHL level. Sending him to the AHL won't do anything.
I know ice time is earned, but Ghost's skill set is meant for the first power play unit. Personally I am in favor of placing him there for an extended period, taking the good with the bad. |

I think he deserves that shot, none of the D could break the puck out consistently against the Isles, not great against the habs either. Now that is a 5 man job but D is the most important part.
