The players need to understand that the NHL is not even in the same stratosphere as other major sports. A lot of revenue is gate driven - a lot of teams are going to be "stressed" (as Gary puts it) even attempting to have a season.

Pandemic times call for pandemic measures. I'm feeling some contractions just thinking about no 20/21 season.

Why is it just on the players?

Well the CBA doesn’t allow a lockout. They’d have to argue that unforeseen circumstances between when they negotiated extension and now. Law (who has name law) saws it will come down to arguing details.

But I agree overall the problem is that the league comes down to lowest common denominator of weakest franchise. I don’t necessarily like the idea of contraction but stumbling along like this is tiresome.

Kurt Cobain's suicide rocked me at the time. But then I read that the next album was going to be heavily influenced by his love of REM, so it's probably for the best.
