As much as I miss playing sports, I think I miss going to the Pub and having 7 pints and 3 lbs of wings more

Bang on...and not gaining a single pound doing this 2 to 3 times a week

If you only play once a month or 3-4 times a year, you play just enough to hate it.

We play twice a week with usually a beer or 2 and it’s great.

We have 1 tourney a year that we travel to and get a dd and drink a ton. It’s the best tournament of the year and we suck ass. If we ever went sober we might actually win the damn thing but we choose to try and beat everyone completely crushed. It hasn’t worked yet, surprisingly.

You would have had to name him captain while Underweargate was unfolding.

It would not have been a good scene.

- Atomic Wedgie

I thought Reilly would have been a solid choice as well, longest tenured Leaf with some talent, and well liked.

I admit those comments still bug me... That didn't win over any fans
- PatC80

That comment combined with his salary...

It's a tough one to swallow for diehards

A cozy pub and pint of guiness is going to be sorely missed this holiday season

It sure is.
We host every major family event throughout the year at our house. Most of the time 25 to 30+ people. There will be 5 of us here for Christmas. Then we are going to my wife’s parents in Collingwood for a day over Christmas. Just our household and the 2 of them. I can’t fathom how quiet this holiday will be. I will get drunk with my father in law though, because there is no escaping that. Thank goodness my wife doesn’t drink, so she can drive home.

We don't have large gatherings at Christmas but when my brother and I get together under the same roof for with the parents and the S/Os, we usually go through a month's worth of booze in 2 nights.

I'll miss it.

True. As crazy as 2020 has been I already forgot about that.
- bryant

This year has simultaneously felt super quick (all days blurred into one) and like it's been going on forever (the pandemic is less than a year old!?).

Marner sucked as much as nylander did during the play-ins.

Marner is making 4million more then nylander.

Nylander had a better regular season compared to marner if your talking dollars to dollars.

Marner was complete poop during the play-ins and will be better next year I’m sure. Thinking these guys don’t get intimidated by their giant contracts and learning to play with them is an understatement. Nylander sucked when he got his. Marner sucked when he got his.

Matthews is the only true beast on this team and I think he should’ve been named captain.

- bryant

Glad matthews wasnt named captain. Was too young and not ready imo.
Let him concentrate on becoming even better than the awesome he is.

Like he said himself; he wasn't engaged.

Which is probably the worst thing he could've said, really.

- GreatGigInTheSky

Not really.
He stated the truth. Glad he didnt lie and make up some lame reason.
Wasnt engaged and still put 4pts in 5 games.
He'll be flying this season.

All that says is that he thinks he can get by on his skill alone. Reality slapped him in his entitled face. And he deserved it.

Saying you're not engaged is just about the stupidest thing you can say about yourself. And it's even worse when the results confirm it.

I agree, I think Marner will come out flying next season. Doesn't change the fact that he goofed, not only himself, but the team, too.

Hearing Leaf fans talk poop about Willy and Mitch makes me laugh. If weirdoh were here, he'd laugh too.

I'm with you Zezel, wouldn't be much to complain about if it wasn't for the salary Cap. Leaf fans should be really upset about the cap.

You'd think a decade of mediocrity would have made some appreciate what you currently have: a young, skilled, exciting and competitive team.

It's always like that, fans always poop on the best players whenever they are not perfect but will completely accept a guy on a third line who hasn't scored for 15 games.

"He blocks shots, I like him".
