stones and beatles both overrated - TheMussel
Music as most artforms are quite subjective and many opinions are formed with little technical knowledge. Beatles and Stones both excellent. Many of the classic British bands of the 60's and 70's wrote some fabulous material. As did Mozart, Beethoven, Dylan, Leonard to name a few.

Dude. Nobody's better than Zeppelin except The Stones and The Beatles. - Zezel
I went to a Zeppelin concert in ‘70 or something to see the band that came on before them, Savoy Brown. For fun we went down to the floor and stood right in front of the stage. Plant was right there. I loved Page’s acoustic set but I don’t think they were the best band I’ve seen.
Page and Beck are right near the top in terms of guitar players. I like the fact that Beck has kept going for so long and has let developing so many styles but I couldn’t put one ahead of the other. Beck is the really the one guy left on my bucket list.
And I do think Rod Stewart at his prime was a better singer, especially for white Brits singing bluesy stuff. Like I said before his voice fills the song. It’s too bad most people’s views of him have been set by the crap he ended up putting out but at the start he was at the top

technical knowledge? - TheMussel
Some folks like rap music over a beatkeeper. I am not a fan of this style of music, nor do I feel there is much technical difficulty in performing it. Shock value by using vulgar language seems to overshadow lyrical excellence in this genre. Great lyrics with some meaning to me, melodies that make me feel good are forms that I appreciate. From an instrumentatiion perspective I lean towards technical skills on various instruments. With guitar for example, both speed and accuracy have value for me.

I like to respond to black and white statements with my own unqualified opinions, ie the beatles and stones statement, though I guess still somewhat believe it.
I'm in the camp that technical prowess is great, but there's a certain... I guess... authenticity that I look for in music. Maybe that's not the right word. The idea that someone can impart the sound in the head on the instrument they play is important to me, and for people that want to play punk and can barely strum a chord, they can still write a song that's fantastic... and at the same time Steve Vai is really really good at guitar, and that's cool for him, but shoot me if I ever have to listen to one of his records.
So I guess in conclusion, everything is subjective and I lean towards certain styles but there's no rules to what I enjoy, or something to that effect. Kind of like asking someone why they like Steak

I was lucky enough to see Miles Davis at the Guthrie when I was living for a year in Minneapolis in 1971. The Guthrie is like the theatres in Stratford, holds 200 people, is an octagon with seats looking down onto the stage. We were in the third row.
He had an amazing band, Keith Jarrett on keyboards and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Miles was a like a tiger, stalking around. He’d be out on the stage for a while, taking the band and music in a certain direction and then he’d leave and you could see him walking around offstage and then he’d be back out.
I’ve never experienced anything like it. By far the best musicians just in terms of straight playing. Keith Jarrett is unreal and the way they played off each other was also amazing.

Musical taste is totally subjective. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

Man I saw the Stones for the first time last summer and they destroyed! I realized no other band has been playing together for literally fifty years, they are telepathic. I had declined to see them for years cause I thought meh, they're so old now it'll be painful to watch. No way, Satan has kept them in good stead.
Or just order the Swiss Chalet Holiday Special! - Atomic Wedgie
Ya but that’s like $20 and you only get 3-5 and they are usually the milk chocolate.
Wait till you try the mint, the candy cane, orange, salted caramel.... it usually takes us about a month to go through them.
My kids probably have 1-2 a day and mrs bryant eats one after every meal. It’s to signify she is done eating. Apparently once she eats the chocolate she can’t go back to eating more food. It’s a weird thing she does but whatever.

A friend of mine gave me a handful of those last week. I had no idea there were so many flavours! I wish she hadn't given me them, it was like giving someone cigarettes. She loves the things. She's orca fat too.
