I knew Jersey was in on Gaudreau!! It's become clear that guys just want to go home. Gaudreau either wants to play in Philly, NJ, NYI, NYR. That's it.

Lundqvist wanted to stay close to NYR, so he looked at NJ for the convenience factor, but ended up not too far away in Washington.

Hall went to Buffalo, which is actually close to where he currently lives, but it's just for 1 year. He'll find his way to Calgary, and then his parents and long-time girlfriend will move with him.

Pietrangelo probably wanted to go to Toronto but they didn't have the cap space so he went to...Vegas. I guess that one doesn't fit.

But Gaudreau to NJ makes lots of sense. Barzal to Vancouver. Maybe the Habs sign Dubois to an offer sheet. But Europeans like Malkin and Palat don't really care. They just want to be a the MAN (or ACE) or to be the GUY.

Ek doesn't hit on much but I have heard on more than a few occasions from Staff in the Flames organization that Johnny Hockey wants out. Philly most likely but don't rule out NJ. When Johnny was coming off his RFA status he made it know around here he wanted to play for Philly. Americans want to play in the States is what it is.

When double headers happen this season Palat can be himself in the first game. But then maybe Hedman, Stamkos and Point don't play in the second game. Palat can step in and be The Guy. So Tampa doesn't have to trade Palat at all.

When Ek kept repeating that the Flames were going to sign Markstrom nobody else in the media was talking about this. Ek was the only one. And where did Markstrom sign? Oh yeah, the Flames. He clearly has a well-connected source with the Flames. So if he says that 6 teams have spoken to them about Gaudreau, and that Gaudreau will be traded before the season starts, well then I fully expect Gaudreau to be traded. Could even be imminently.

But sometimes Malkin wants to be The Ace. When he's on the ice Geno is the Ace of Space. He steps his game up a notch when Sid is injured and becomes The Man.

But the Pens lack enough cap space to acquire a Guy or a Man. That's why Geno Malkin is such a bargain. He can be The Man or The Ace. Palat can only be The Guy. Well actually we don't really know if Palat can be The Guy.
