As for Seattle, its top choices will be Girgensons, Eakin, Borgen and Miller. The Kraken could go big and talk with Hall, but he’s looking to join a team with playoff potential at this stage of his career.

Even though Vegas became a Cup contender during its inaugural season, 51 of its 82 games were decided by one goal. Girgensons is a defensive-minded forward who gets the tough matchups, a trait that should appeal to an expansion team that figures to be in plenty of close games.

The Golden Knights selected Eakin and Miller in their expansion draft. Some of the potential that enticed Vegas has worn off three years later, but both players would provide a veteran presence with reasonable salaries.

Borgen will be only 24 at draft time, making the defense prospect an attractive piece for the long haul.

The Kraken’s selection should come down to Girgensons or Borgen, with Girgensons getting the call because of his experience.
