The running game struggles are a catch-22. While it isn't great by any means, it's also abandoned very early more often than not because the passing game is so good this year. It's hard to "establish the run" if you abandon it every time you don't get a gain of more than 2 yards. - buffalofan19
Watch Big Ben throw the ball 30 times this week with an average distance of 3 yards.
They all go into the stat sheet as a pass, but for the most part they use it as an extension of the run game because they can’t run the ball.
Same with Goff in LA. I’d have to think that Kupp and Woods are amongst the tops in the NFL in yards after the catch this year.
The Bills will win pretty handedly this week if Pittsburgh cannot be more balanced on offence with James Connor coming back this week. |

Yes, that happened
But before that- the DEFENSE wasn’t stopping the run. We weren’t horrible, but 5.5yds per carry just isn’t good enough imo to be put at ease going forward. There were still BIG holes on early downs
And i don’t have confidence we’ll get big leads against playoff teams to take away their running game-
at least not against the upper echelon teams that we’ll eventually have to get past
Let’s see what this next game against PIT holds
If it looks like the SF game, you’ll see my confidence rise quite a bit
If not,
my worries will be justified and my doubts validated - jdfitz77
Defense is getting better, there is no doubt about it. It started with Edmund's and Klien uping their games, largely from Frazier figuring out adjustments for each. Add in Milano at least on passing downs and the D takes another step up. The D-line is finally getting some physical play to help contain the blocks that are creating those massive run lanes.
I don't get too worried early on in games as I realize, and am sure you do too, that in-game adjustments are necessary, and we did see it during the game.
Further, as I mentioned, having a quick attack Offense is another tactic in the game strategy to cause the opponents running game to be de-emphasized. And that is another way to win through a passing game...meaning that teams can take away the opponents strong running game without having the D "stop the run". That IS the central point. |

Do u really think we’ll get out to big leads against good playoff teams though?
Bc if not,
then it comes down to our defense stopping the run- & “getting better” doesn’t say much when we were one of the worst in the league
That KC game vs us was painful to watch with all their 8yd runs on 1st down- ugh
And that lasted all game long- we didn’t adjust well at halftime |

Well we did against Houston. Defense is getting better at the right time. Still don't think we have played are best game yet. |

I want to see how we do vs the Steelers. The Steelers are getting trashed on for losing to the Washington football team.
Are they actually that bad and it was their schedule or was it just 1 bad game |

That was last year, and in the WC round
Could we get off to a great start against Vegas, Miami, the Browns, etc?
Sure
But it’s a lot less likely we do so against the competition we’ll have to face after that 1st round |

Steelers have been vulnerable for a while now and finally lost. They could have realistically lost 5 games by now.
However their ability to win those types of games could also be a testament to their ability as a team to still win games they should lose.
I guess it depends on what side of the coin you want to look at.
Losing Bud Dupree is huge for thag defence though. Joe Haden also got hurt in the Washington game and if he isn’t available that secondary could be ripe for the picking. |

Very true, but they have to worry about us too. The Bill's eat up yards, they don't punt much. And the better are Defense plays, more opportunities for are very dangerous offense. |

PS
Dupree is set to be a free agent after this year
We should DEFINITELY go after him
A pass rusher like that is exactly what our defense needs |

We shall see, I think we match up very well with Pittsburgh, especially with Milano back. |

Sure
I guess I’m just focused on our shortcomings that could prevent us from beating these other really good teams
Even though the KC score was close,
I felt we got whooped from the start
And the TEN game was rough also
We might have to go through both those teams in the playoffs- and of course PIT
The way CLE runs could give us problems too
I hope we aren’t pretenders this year....
but our flaws are a glaring “red flag” imo

Maybe. Might be an off season thing. Id hate for the Bills to have to spend another pick on a RB though. |

We shall see, it's gonna be a tough road, some good football teams in the AFC. They are playing good football right know, scary thing is they can get better. |

Yeah there defense is, think Milano helps with Big Ben, guy likes the quick hitters, Milano will help take that away. Beasley and Knox could have big games again. |

I think Mittelstadt will be traded in the next two weeks. It's just too weird that he isn't signed |

have there been any signings lately?...seems like everyone was in a holding pattern while they figured out what the 2020-21 season would look like

Yeah but there shouldn't be any hold up for Mittelstadt. It should be a pretty cut and dried deal. Two way, $950/100. Either he doesn't want to be here or the Sabres don't want him. That's how I see it anyway. #hegone |

According to Forbes in 2020..... the Sabres lost 10.9 million dollar.
So somewhere people thought the pegulas lost like 60 mill a year or 45 mill. They were wrong |

The $45-$60mil losses are what could happen this year |
