Yeah, my simple, harmless comment about rather having the long term solution because as you stated, our division looks (frank)ed for this season, makes Staal pretty meaningless IMO, regardless of how well he stops the run.

Because I would like to see a playoff team, I want more moves that push us over the top.

My line of thinking was, if you’re going to move the top 10 pick, or try to package a ton of assets and hit a home run, Monahan wouldn’t have been my choice.

I would definitely be on board for Cirelli, he would fit this roster as currently constructed much better.

Sure, as a start, but they have much more to do to be a real playoff team, and that's even without the realignment for this season, as they have issues at defense and goaltending.

So yes, it's great for one season, but to me, they're hardly a playoff team yet.
