Boring? I believe there is no other way to do it other than baseball style. I’m hoping it will create playoff style hockey during the regular season.
- bloatedmosquito

Seen what happens in a lot of back to backs, chippy play, injuries, redemption.

I wonder if there is a rise in suspensions this year

Ya, 4 teams, Canucks, Jets, Canadiens and Sharks would need to start camp elsewhere
- Reubenkincade

I don’t see how they are going to get this off the ground by the 13th. Unless the NHL has a direct line to Pfizer to purchase vaccines for all players and team staff it will be April (or later) before it’s available to them.

But, I didn’t think they could get their bubbles off the ground, so I guess they must have a path forward that they see as plausible.

That makes the most sense
- Reubenkincade

I think the baseball style would be much better in a league wide played instead of just against like 7 other teams.

A couple weeks back they talked about a schedule of travel for 2 weeks and then a week off, maybe they have all teams go to one place have a round robin in each city and take a week off, essentially having mini bubbles throughout the season.

Speaking of Seattle, The Athletic has been releasing their fifth mock draft today, examining each team specifically and what they might give up to the expansion franchise.

Who's got the athletic?

- manvanfan

Their protected list:
Boeser
Horvat
Miller
Virtanen
Motte
Gaudette
Pettersson

Schmidt
Juolevi
Rafferty

Demko

They have Seattle's options as:
1. Macewan
2. Holtby
3: Lind
4: Myers
5: Roussel

Something interesting to note, Macewan/Hawryluk need to play 40 games this season to reach the exposure requirements. If you're swapping the 2 out for each other you could probably keep Macewan's # of games low enough that he doesn't qualify.

I have my reservations, this is different than the 2 bubble city thingy. I wonder where the Canucks camp will be when we are not supposed to be leaving our communities?

MacEwen is still available under that scenario.
Those games played numbers are for the team that is exposing players must have 2 forwards and a defenseman that hit those numbers.

How would I notice how civil it has been when I didn't look in for two months? Never mind it will only confuse you.

I have only been reading what has been posted in here for about a week now and most of it is pretty lame.

I have no intention of hanging out and debating what goes on in here life is too short. I will be reading some of the guys but won't be responding to anything unless some a$shole mentions my name like what you are doing now. .

Seattle can still select a player who doesn’t “qualify”, the qualifying requirement is the onus of the team giving up a player. It’s why they signed Bachman prior to Vegas draft, so they would technically have a goalie under contract who had played X NHL games.

Like most, I also have reservations. I believe they said elite athletes were exempt.
Can you imagine, Loui might be considered an elite athlete.

Sounds like a lot to ask of any community. I don’t think the players have any desire to enter any bubbles

Ya, I don't think that is the best way to go, I would think having a team come in for back to backs or 3 in 4 nights then move on would work the best.

Would be pretty tough to justify NHL hockey when BCHL and WHL teams are not allowed to practice.

Inevitable.

just for conversations sake...

100%. I think there’s a Burke/twins story about Stefan going first. I believe Burkie knew he was going first, would be a bust, and worked that to his advantage getting picks 2 and 3.
- bloatedmosquito

I don't think so.
Just heard a podcast with Burkie talking about how he was pretty high on Stefan and actually tried to get the top 3 picks in the draft.
Stefan apparently had some concussion issues that derailed his career.

- dbot

Burke for years has talked about how close he was to having the 1st, 2nd and 3rd and he dodged the bullet.

Stefan did play 450 games, almost all of them with a terrible Atlanta team. If he had been a Canuck, and played with the twins he might have been a HHOF candidate... though then Burrows might not be in the ring of honor now.

IF Gaunce would have had that regular shift on the 4th line in Boston they would have had that cup...

Probably.

Edit - if Cam Neely had remained in Vancouver his whole career he would never have scored more than 21 in a season...
