Life has pretty much remained normal there hey? - NorthNuck
Strong leadership and reasonable population. Or a bunch of 5g sheep, if you’re one of those types. |

If there is no nhl season this year, will Elias and Juolevi need to be protected, as they would have only played in 2 professional seasons? |

It will be a Lyft squad - 1970vintage
I took a look this morning and last season in the AHL. Utica tied 2nd least amount of under 23 players on it with 6.
San Antonio had 5.
Some rebuilding squads had up to 14.
GMJB seems to be much more a quality over quantity guy.
It might be wise for him to add a few more of them in the future so to find a gem.

If you’re going to go quality over quantity you should probably have as many 1st, 2nd and 3rd round selections as possible, instead of 6th and 7th round selections... |

Would it be safe to say, you don't have any expectations for Palmu and Manyukin |

Hot commodities those 1st and 2nds. Got to give something up good to get it.
Teams are trading away players in their prime years to start rebuilds because they can't supplement their clubs in other ways. |

Wild picked two 5'9" players in the draft this year.
Vancouver none.
TBH pretty sure Midgetyukan and Palmu were Wiesbrod picks.
Benning is too old school meat and potatoes to draft tiny guys. |

Who?
Or Gadjovic, or Gunnerson, or that Finish defenseman that knocked Canada out of the jr.’s I will be plesently surprised if any of said players ever contribute but I don’t expect they will. |

If Gadj could have improved his skating by a lot, he would have had a real shot at the NHL. Unfortunately his skating isn't good enough. |

Undrafted players made up the same portion of players in the league this year as 2nd round picks. Which is 20% less than 1st round picks.
Rutherford probably has it right signing like 10 free agents every year. Even Dubas in Toronto gambling on Euro players, same as Chicago who signs a lot of them. You only really need 1 or 2 to pan out. |

Why does it have to be one or the other? You could draft kids AND sign undrafted college and Euro/CHL kids who look to be late bloomers. |

There are only 3 players forwards drafted behind him that have produced in the NHL so far. Two of them are speedsters that were both drafted in their plus 1 years.
They shouldn't be drafting players with such a larger red flag in the 2nd round.
Sort of like not drafting a defender who can't defend and has extremely poor decision making in the 3rd.

What team needs both all the time? If you can sign a college free agent that has a worth of a 2nd round, why not trade that 2nd rounder to help the NHL club, the thing that actually means something. Not being ranked #1 in the farm system rankings every year.
