Unless NJD eats at least 50% of that god awful salary, please keep him - Ogimaa
They would need to eat way more than that..Plus Leafs dont need the Subban show hitting town. |

So using Blockhead's logic....
Josi is better than Eichel and Matthews. Right.
I will admit Eichel has a better collection of jorts. |

And WHAT WOULD NJ GET FOR EATING $4.5 M in salary and losing one of their top 4??
PK is not what he was but he is still better than what NJ has.
Cap space ??? NJ does not need it .....
Young D ?? NJ has Smith , Bahl , Walsh , Jacobs , WHITE , MUKHAMADULLIN ,OKHOTYUK,MCCARTHY ,
DONT Need youth on D ..Need NHL ready D men to use while the kids grow.....
And Why would the Leafs trade that for PK ????? |

PK’s cap hit is $9M for the next 2 years, but in actual salary it’s $8M per season |

Don't see how Toronto's going to do that, seeing as they're already over the cap limit.
So.....uh......sure. That's likely to happen. |

Even if NJ retained 50% of PK's salary, what is the draw? He was absolutely terrible last season and, if you have any visions of him AT LEAST bringing the heat on the PP from the point, you're deluding yourself. I can count on 1 hand the number of times he found himself in a good shooting position and, even when he did for some unknown reason he wouldn't let it rip. Coming from a NJ fan that was over the moon excited when we landed PK, I'll spare you the torment that I faced. Just don't. The guy is done. - WayneZ
I love PK, but if the Devils offered him up, 50% salary retained, for a 7th round pick, I'd politely decline.
He had 7 goals and 11 assists last year.
I'm not using up $4.5M of cap hit we absolutely do not have for that. |

Right?! Just taking Subban at 50% with minimal going from the Leafs is laughable from the Leafs perspective, nevermind actually trading something away. |

Yep. Devils fan here. I cannot fathom anyone taking on a $4.5 million Subban in this environment, never-mind paying assets to get it done. Hopefully he rebounds. |

You read it wrong. I was laughing cuz I still don't understand what's in it for NJ?
They don't need to trade PK - look at their CAP? Lowest in the NHL.
So why would they want to help out the Leafs by retaining almost 50%?
I don't think the Leafs want to trade for him either, so it's a silly proposal any way you slice it.

I am optimistic PK will revert back to a close version of his old self in the upcoming year. Last year was a mess in NJ, especially with the coaching changes, and I believe he will bounce back strong. I could be wrong but I fully expect him to lead us in blue line scoring.
And if I'm wrong, you know where to find me |

No, I got what you meant, you're just wrong.
Getting rid of Subban, even if they retain 50%, is already a huge win for them. They don't need CAP space, sure, but Subban is poison for their room. He has been everywhere he's been. Tossing him out is an absolute win for NJ. |

Ek I thought Haula was deep in conversations with the Oilers, who would eventually send him to Vegas for MAF?
Now suddenly the cap-strapped Penguin are involved? Weird. So did things die out with Edmonton or is that still on the table? It's been like 3 weeks since you said he was in lengthy calls with the Oilers. |

ZERO chance the Leafs trade for Subban. He’s it the player he used to be and he’s a defensive liability. We don’t need a 1 dimensional player like that. |
