I’m assuming your continual reference to 1984 is a George Orwell reference, and I think you are letting your paranoia get the better of you. What is the “bullpoop” that you find so difficult to deal with?

You are in a situation now because a bunch of people who don’t share your particular challenges were thoughtless and didn’t follow common sense guidelines. All of BC is struggling because one are is full of people who are just living their lives, that’s pretty selfish.

I have friends who have parents that live alone. They will spend time with them during the holidays, I don’t think any less of them. I am confident that they will use their best judgement.

I kinda like covid 1984 considering the xenophobic reactions from some of the scared crowd.
Polls show 80 percent want mandatory vaccinations at the border, 80 percent! That's now, without any data on the long term viability of the vaccine, without any thought to accurate tests being developed.

Ontario is going to issue V cards so that some people can do things that others can't. I am not just talking about those who don't want to get jabbed, I'm talking about those who can't, like those with allergies, they can't get it. Plus if you say anything against it you are banned an antivaxer or a Trumper etc.... people are being led to believe that thought speech is wrong and illegal.

That trustee who tweeted about Donnolly getting fired, I have friends who I argued with about this say she should be fired and ostracized over that. If people are publication advocating that elected officials should not be allowed to publication speak their mind because it undermines the authorities them what is that? Very 1984ish.

If they don't follow protocol they are no different.

I think there is a certain portion of the population that desperately wants it to be 1984 so they have an excuse to rebel. People want drama because their lives have become so boring, mundane, and repetitive.

Conspiracy is exciting so revealing and confronting that injustice (real or perceived) gives some people’s lives purpose and meaning.

Oh my God, this describes my existence.

10 lbs heavier - because I don't go anywhere. And I'm eating and drinking alcohol way too much, because I'm so bored.

Constantly wondering what day of the week it is.

Gimme the vaccine, and let me get back to my normal life.

Pretty please?

It's not a conspiracy theory though, it's real and happening as we speak.
People are advocating for these things, that's the scary part.

Clearly most Albertans are living their lives and ignoring provincial orders. Where I have a problem is when they come to BC and do as they wish.

I was actually thinking that with a good deal of CHL teams shut down, the NHL should work out a deal that teams can have their prospects in the AHL so they can be playing.

It's tough for folks to think outside the box though and see things differently. Read between the lines a bit. But whatever makes the world a pretty interesting place.

I get a hard time on here for reading comics but little did I think that the Alan Moore story from V for Vendetta from the early 80's would literally be unfolding right before our eyes today.

Masks are creating a false sense of security. Too many people think they help more than they do and then get careless. A Danish medical study just showed how little they work. It's being censored on social media etc of course with reasoning being they think people will stop wearing them but on the other hand, people are grouping up, shopping more than they need and getting too close to each other etc because "I'm wearing my mask". This is the danger of overstating how much of a difference masks make. This is also the negative effect of censoring real medical studies that contradict what people believe. Wearing a mask wont make things worse... but thinking you can cheat because they are effective is contributing to massive amounts of transmission.

I had a conversation with a fellow yesterday about people who are oblivious to wearing masks, it touched on that.

Is this fact based or is this shoot from the hip opinion?

I do agree, to do our best to stop the spread of transmission, the 3 factors need to be adhered to, distancing, hand washing and mask wearing.
No cheating.
