If Tanev is averaging 3, you better believe that Lowry is getting that too. - TheUltimateJet
Tanev was a JR signing. He wouldn’t get that anywhere else but the island. |

So what's plan B if Perfetti shows he can't compete at center at the NHL level. Move Wheeler to C again.
The Jets should be able to get Stastny signed for under 4 a year. Give Perfetti a fair shot at 2c* and if he performs well then great you have Stastny playing 3c. If not you at least have a back-up plan.
*Yes I know Maurice will never give him a shot if he has a veteran at his disposal, I can dream though - BWJumper
If Perfetti can’t be a 2C right out of the gate, you either get Ehlers to help carry him over his first season until he fills the shoes, or you play him at 3C with Copp at 2C. Easy. |

The post did not require any backup, so you can roll your eyes up your Patrik Elias. - bennythehat
Patrik Laine:
*writes “Winnipeg is Good” article*
*signs in Winnipeg, without a trade demand in the RFA interim*
*posts video of himself working out in Jets gear, showing commitment to his game and the team*

What they SHOULD be doing is developing Roslovic at center on the 3rd line and it should be centering the 2015 line and before any fancy statters tell me Roslovic has been bad at center don't bother cause he had two stints at center last season and he was doing pretty damn good but of course Maurice just couldn't leave it alone and just go with it!
If they did that and it worked out it'd give them another center option that doesn't require moving 34 year old Wheeler to the middle if Perfetti isnt ready, Stastny moves or an injury happens.
The best and most obvious plan B is developing the centers you draft by actually playing them at center. - JetFuel
I like the idea of Ras at C. He was awesome at C with the Moose, and deserves a chance given the vacancy.

how about when all twitter said "Jets want to trade Ehlers" yet here we are and so is Ehlers!!!!!!!!! |

1) My post said nothing about trading him.
2) Because he doesn't give off positive vibes about being here, his handlers and the Jets PR people had him write the article. Because it was perceived that he was out of shape and played video games during the off-season, he posted the workout video.
Maybe he does indeed love being here, hard to tell. "Damage control" events do not prove that to me. My wife knows I love her because of my daily actions. I don't have to rent a billboard at Portage & Main to let her know that.

Lets be honest with ourselves. No way does Maurice put Perfetti at center. Most likely plays wing for the first two seasons.

Well Benny, I wish I had the same level of confidence in Maurice's ability as you.
I did enjoy going through the history of the Selanne trade with you.
Brought back fond memories. I think that John Paddock was the best GM Jets 1.0 ever had. In fact I think he's the best GM in Jets 1.0 and 2.0 history. I thinks it's unfortunate that he never got a shot at being GM again after the Pheonix fiasco. |

Perfetti has to be groomed at center there are literally no spots left on the wings in our top 9, Maurice has left himself no outs on this one
edit, Chevy says hold my beer and trades both Laine and Rosy to open up wing spots. lol |

Peretti can't beat out Roslovic for a wing spot, but can play a tougher role as 2c?
Maurice had no problem putting Ehlers on the 3rd line for some of his rookie year, the same will happen here, if it comes to that.

I don't mind your ideas Rexypoo, but they are more in the fantasy realm than reality.
Maurice is risk averse to giving a prospect the center spot (see every moose prospect that was never given a look). The same goes for Copp everything we've seen is he can play center but Maurice wouldn't rather he grind with Lowry at the wing.

If we’re running Roslovic at centre, and presumably wanting him to have ice time and support, we end up with:
Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Ehlers-Stastny-Laine
Perreault-Lowry-Copp
Harkins-Roslovic-Appleton
This is a lineup that will have to succeed in spite of its top line. With Copp right there, I really can’t see Roslovic moving any higher than line 4 under Maurice. |

For the love of god, please take Lowry of the third line. His PuckIq stats are horrendous. His stats against elite competition are abysmal. The player that shockingly had the worst overall advanced stats was Patrik Laine, especially against elite competition. This shocked me, especially considering how much Rexypoo values these types of things.

No she doesn't but if Laine rented a billboard at P&M that said he'd love to be a Winnipeg Jet for the rest of his career it'd be dismissed as "damage control" as well so who cares, nothing he could do would ever be enough for the majority of local yokels in this town of people who prefer grindy plugs over elite skill. |

I know you were kidding but I can totally see that happening, Laine traded for a package including one RHD and a couple meh extras and Roslovic lost to Seattle or traded for like a 2nd or 3rd round pick, could see Stastny extended too cause by the time he's a UFA he'll be 35 and I'm not sure he'll get much interest from many other teams.
Going into 21-22 I could see the team looking something like this:
Connor-Scheif-Wheeler
Perfetti-Stastny-Ehlers
Copp-Lowry-Appleton
Harkins-Gustafsson-?/Cheap veteran signing
Morrissey-RHD acquired in Laine trade
Heinola-Pionk
Samberg-DeMelo

I was half kidding,
A Laine trade is scary as hell. For instance,
Sverson, Zacha, Mercer is not at all what I’d want, but for some reason could see
But
Sanheim, Konectny (I might be much higher on him than most) and Farabee. I’m ok with.

I loved that site. Based on possession metrics and offensive zone starts, Laine looks like he is pretty bad at hockey. I know that some on this board will argue that he had scored lots of points, however some fans of advanced analytics would say that points don't matter. Furthermore a friend of mine who loves natural statrick informed me that when Laine is paired with anyone their possession metric go down. The player that looks like a superstar is Ehlers. Would love to see him get close to 20 minutes a game to see what he can really do. |

Just saw a post explaining why Brett Pesce randomly fell off in Carolina last season after years of being excellent.
Their best answer? That his most common partner last season was Joel Edmundson, and that he’s likely to see a huge rebound year now that he’s gone.
