I was never one to collect cards or comic books or anything like that. The closest thing i collected was albums, which i still listen to today. Over time my wife was like when are you going to just join the rest of the world and I'd just say nope i really enjoy listening to vinyl and will continue to do so. Funny what is new becomes old then becomes new again. - BetweenTheDots
I prefer 8 Tracks. The song trailing off in the middle of one track and picking up on the next really enhanced the listening experience.
I know people swear by vinyl and analog but I suppose my ears aren't that adept at hearing the difference.
It's nice not to have extra clutter, but the thing I miss with albums is the cover art and liner notes. |

Ahh, 8-Tracks. Brings back fond memories of cruising around in my old '64 Pontiac Tempest with a Led Zeppelin 8-Track blaring through my self installed speakers. I was revered for my 8-Track fixing acumen that required a feather touch to activate the rewind mechanism - it was quite a badge of honor back in the day. |

Ha! I think you're a few years my senior but I definitely have fond memories of Dad having a slew of Beatles 8 tracks and loved listening to them.
He liked Chicago at the time which I wasn't a big fan of as a kid but love their old stuff now. Of course he also had the Carpenters on heavy rotation
By the time I started listening to Zeppelin, it was albums and cassettes, though my first stereo was one of those all in one Panasonic jobs with 8 track. |

Back in the day i would find a album that sounded like crap, last one i can think of was CCR live, don't know if it was the cut or what, would go to garage/estate sales it was great i could buy albums for $1 when no one was buying them.
The art is great, my appreciation is to play an album you usually listen to all of it and there is some great music that never reaches the general public.
It could be equipment my friends always say, i can't believe how good the albums sound off your stereo |

Great blog Theo. You’re crushing it!
Looking forward to your WJHC blog and watching some baby Blackhawks play soon.
Also, sounds like Dach has a shot at being the “C” for Canada. Could be a huge tournament for him. - Tyler Cameron
Thanks, Tyler.
That's definitely a strong possibility for Dach being captain. Might be good practice for the future. |

Thought the crowd of posters came from The Daily Herald when Tim Sassone's blog wasn't free anymore. A lot of crazy characters on those blogs... fun stuff... Can't wait to watch the WJC. Dach could really benefit if he dominates! |

That's the truth. Every time I bought an 8-track, album, cassette, or CD it was for a song I really liked. But my favorite song on it wound up being something I had
never heard before.
Maybe STL will pipe up and school us about a Victrola. |

NY Times is reporting that the Cleveland baseball team will be dropping the “Indians” name entirely, probably after next season (with uniform and contracts issues).
That leaves Atlanta Braves, KC Chiefs, and Blackhawks.
And after the Washington and Cleveland decisions - pressure will be building. |

I do remember 78s - the standard before Columbia developed the LP, and RCA Victor developed the 45.
I had lots of 45s, with the fat hole - needed a special player (I had one) or little disks that fit in the hole and allowed it to be played on a regular record player. |

I also remember when juke boxes were major sources of revenue for record companies (“put another nickel in, in the Nickelodeon”) - and The Mob (tons of cash). |

Oh yeah, I remember the Tim Sassoon site. There was a Hawks blog named Second City or something like that too.

Or you could get a cylinder type gizmo so you didn't need to snap in those little plastic inserts into every 45 you wanted to play. You could stack 5 or so 45's on the cylinder although sometimes more than one record would drop - at least the cheepie one I had had.
My mom had a bunch on 78's from the Big Band era - Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and that bunch. By brother and I took a bunch and used them for target practice with the new Winchester lever action single shot .22 rifle I got for my 10th birthday. Big mistake ... and I'll just leave it at that. |

Should be embarrassed to say I just purged most of my teenage 45s?
It was difficult to part with comical that made a story from the current songs of the time.
The Outer Space Looters waste
The Touchables
As the 45s were being carted out by a friend I kept singing one, the END of the World, "why dies the sun go on shining, why the seas rush to shore, don't they know it'd the end of the world (and I dont LOVER them DISCAanymore..

Like it or not its only a matter of time before the Blackhawks change their name and/or logo, despite the team’s efforts to maintain them. My guess is that the Blackhawks are the last to make the change, which will be its own type of pressure.
I could see the team reverting back to ‘Black Hawks’ as their name and updating their logo at the same time. |
