Everyone is talking about letting Casey walk in his free agent year. My question to those who feel it is time to move on from him. Note this He was leading faceoff player on the isles at 53.5%, he is tied with JG Pageau. That is tied for 31st overall in the NHL.
Puck possession is key in both Ozone and Dzone. One way to control the play is win faceoffs. So saying it is time to move on might be jumping the gun. |

Not everyone. I dare say that everyone is opposed to overpaying him in coin and/or term however. |

After we sign Barzal and whoever else we will have zero cap space. Cizikas did not have a great season last year. He has been injured quite a bit the last few seasons. It’s not a big secret players that play the game he does degrade quicker and he’s 30 in a few months.
Love the guy but I don’t think signing another older player whose game is in decline to a 3 or 4 year contract (because that’s the absolute shortest term he’s taking) worth 2.5-3 million per is not a good idea. With all of this said lameriello will sign him and every, single, person on this thread will agree with me after the first year. E5 |

I do not disagree that term and cost are a factors. I think if you offered a 3 yr deal or less that would work best. |

Not saying that it is a risk signing him. I do not think anything over 3 yrs makes sense. I think if you go with the 3 yrs verses 1 or 2...You can stretch the monies by giving term. They could also lose him in the expansion draft. |

As much as I would hate seeing Casey in another sweater, it may be time to move on from him, even trading him this year , if he has any value. This team needs to get younger and cheaper somewhere and 4th line center is a good place to start. |

I'd like him back at $1.5 per for 3 or 4 years. I don't think there is a chance in hell Casey would take that.

Only problem I see is who is going to replace Cizikas if he doesn’t sign with the Islanders. Is Otto Koivula ready to step in. With pelech beauvillier Sorokin due contracts it’s going to be difficult to bring him back. I like cizikas but Lou will have to creative to bring him back |

I think the signing of Casey will depend a lot on the performance of the team if positive and if he is a big part of that. |
