Don’t kid yourself, as much as I think Sutter isn’t great at hockey anymore, nor was he ever, he’s been a great mentor for some of the young guys. He’s a quality person, just not good at hockey anymore.

Personally I think Winnipeg is going to surprise some people with how good they are and if Yamamoto can continue his torrid pace after he was called up, Edmonton could suddenly have two lines along with the best two offensive forwards in the league.

Calgary is certainly deeper than last year and their goaltending is going to be much better, a lot of interesting stories regarding an “all Canadian” division.

Something to be said for a down to earth prairie mentality...on the ice was less than ideal but definitley hope he helped in the room (and it pays off long-term).

Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver & Winnipeg are so close IMO it’s pretty much a toss-up as to who finishes ahead of who. They all have specific strengths and weaknesses. It could be argued Toronto is much better but in my mind they don’t stand head and shoulders above the other four aforementioned teams, only slightly.

I think with a lot of the teams, they aren't adding the right pieces and that's why you don't see you improvement.

You say, oh Edmonton will be better because Yamaoto plays a whole season. Scoring isn't the problem for them, it's defence. Yes, you need to score but Edmonton doesn't have problem scoring.

Leafs had the 2 worst teams for GA in their division & were 5th worst themselves.

Edmonton is going for the Leafs model of adding more soft scorers and figure out defensive next off season after we are bounced in the first round of the playoffs but never really figuring out defence.

McDonough's shoot out winner for NE today.

Didn't show much during the game. Doesn't have that same drive that Gaudette had when he was there.

The center he plays with is pretty crappy though. That line is pretty much him trying to do it by his self.
