We have by far and away the worst cases other than Brazil and "Gi-nah" oh my god you cannot be this dense? The whole point is that no one in America took this seriously and we got hit the WORST.

I'm not arguing any of that. The point is, even the countries that had the strictest lockdowns, at least in the Western Hemisphere, are in a worse spot than they were when this all began. There are other factors in this too, when you consider the US. We have a larger population, and an overall much less healthy one too.

EDIT: by the way, China claims to have administered 160 million tests and has only reported 86k cases. They're really good at this thing...

How convenient for Tampa.

TB's cap issues may be solved by LTIR. There is word Nikita Kucherov is battling an injury that may keep him out awhile. No comment from team/agent, so details are sketchy -- but clarity expected this week. If unable to play (unfortunately), it will clear room for the Lightning.

https://twitter.com/Fried.../1341042401289318400?s=19

Uh huh, right. They are in a division they are going to steamroll and don't need Kucherov.

This is obnoxiously convenient and deserves all the scrutiny it will get.

Read that too...Tampa is going to shelve Kuch to become compliant, RME.
IMO that is a real stretch, I suppose anything is possible, and if he needs hip surgery, I wouldn't exactly call that convenient.

Rumors are they are trading with Wings to acquire Zetterburg's LTIR contract, and ship out probably one other contract like Johnson's....there is $11m.

I remember a few months ago when bonus overages were supposed to be this catastrophic factor in the Sabres cap situation...

It's insane we're almost a year into this thing and we still have to explain this to "adults"

It would have been nice to have that $1.5 in cap space to get a goalie

Hmmm.
Smart teams don't cause a very controllable situation make a negative impact then or in the future.
By unnecessarily trading a 4th for a 13th F with a Cap Hit of $4m. That move now is has the Sabres with about $3.5m in Cap space available.
Jeez, with that extra $1.5 they COULD trade for a very, very good G with a Cap Hit of $4.5.
Now, they require an additional move when opportunities are very limited, at best.
Yup, it may have hurt them.

That's a silly point. It's a global pandemic.

My biggest takeaway from all of this is that this may ultimately be the death of capitalism.

England already has another mutated strain and I'm being realistic about this pandemic - This is the new normal. Our government is going to have to provide a universal basic income, Amazon already has been making a drone army for door-step deliveries and people have already been alienated by social interaction more and more due to the internet and smart-phones.

I see a lot of people on here, who have always been on here, complaining about not being able to socialize normally anymore like they used to. Well, just because you gather in a large crowded area doesn't mean you're socializing and with apps like Tindr and Grindr, if you're Pegulaville, people already got rid of the "dating" aspect to a relationship and just cut straight to the sex and break-up.

My biggest issue right now is wanting to have a child but not knowing what a COVID infection might do to a baby in the womb - In addition to having just gotten laid-off today and not knowing what my money and employment future holds. The unemployment bug finally hit me and I'm at the point where my pride is less important than ever - Why have I been busting my ass in a toxic and unsafe work-environment during a pandemic when I can hopefully get approved for unemployment and make just as much after this new stimulus bill passes?

It's not going to stop me from looking for work, but I've never been unemployed and I'm 35. The place I was working just had an outbreak of COVID because some douche-bag moron kept coming to work, not wearing his mask, when his girlfriend, who is a nurse, was sick for TWO GOD DAMN WEEKS before he said anything and she tested positive. Then came back to work still not wearing his mask. And myself and 10-15 others got laid-off yet he still has his job? And no one was telling him to keep his mask on before or after? And he stands on his phone all night, takes 45 minute lunch breaks and despite being 24, disappears when the work needs to be done and leaves 50-60 year old men to do the hard labor?

That's what the company valued, apparently. People who listen to Ben Shapiro pod-casts, think masks are useless, were on the verge of tears when Trump lost, "told" on their co-workers on election night when they were happy and talking about it when it was clear Biden was winning and think COVID can't hurt them, and also have no regard for other people's well-being.

This is America. This is the norm. This is why COVID hasn't been contained and isn't going anywhere. We will see how the vaccine does, but this virus mutates very, very fast, and if you're reading about HOW it mutates, that's the scariest part. There will be hundreds of thousands more who die from this, still, especially in third-world countries where 9 out of 10 people won't be able to get the vaccine.

Tampa had the ability to get around as much as $11 million in cap space using LTIR. Why? Because Tampa figured out that human beings have been doing creative things with money since the beginning of time, and it wasn't even that clever all things considered. The Sabres can't seem to figure this out.

Oh boy...

First off, the vaccine will not be made available to the general public, meaning YOU and I, until probably June 2021.

But when other people REFUSE to follow guidelines, avoid social gatherings and wear their masks in crowded spaces, I have to worry about what risks others are taking, what the (frank) is so hard to understand about this?

Unreal.

The difference between a $1m goalie and a $2.5m goalie is the difference between Tokarski and Halak

We literally just saw what Tampa did, or is planning to do. If you can't fit Halak under your cap, again, your IQ probably doesn't exceed 40.

If the difference between getting a Halak or a Tokarski is 1.5 mil, you figure out a way to clear 1.5 mil. It’s not hard in the NHL
