Miller & so many said JB helped a team over a barrel. Schmidt he got lucky. Can do no right.

I for one am still pissed he didn't hit a home run with Vey

Oh but he most certainly is, without drafting Boeser, Pettersson & Hughes he’d be out of a job. His single trick is drafting.
- Pacificgem

Demko is promising.
Podkolzin a wait & see
Hoglander was solid
Rathbone 4th was good
Lind was solid

Time will tell if patient. Idk what a GM has to do to satisfy fans. Get lucky & win Laffy & Kaako certainly isn’t skill.

Yeah find me some more of those.

Find me some that doesn't involve a team getting fleeced because of the cap

- manvanfan

Actually Schmidt and Leivo were due to each team, Vegas and Toronto, having cap issues. Also, I’m about to head out, I don’t have time to surf the net for NHL hockey trades right now.

That guy is such a tard
- Pacificgem

Jurmo needs to leave Finland and come to NA next season. Liiga is beyond horrible for developing defenders. There is like 5 players over the past 10 years u21 that have come from Liiga into the NHL.

Too pairing minute muncher

Schmidt was trade of the off season. Truthfully I expect another one like that in 2021

29 other GM’s missed the boat?

Finally after cleaning up an inherited mess with some questionable deals early on he made some good to great moves once he had flexibility.

It was Benning taking advantage of Vegas’s cap, much like Mike Gillis taking advantage of SJ’s cap issues when he acquired Ehrhoff. Gillis was horrible at trades, but everyone gets lucky now and again.

Paul Holmgren acquired Voracek and Sean Couturier for Jeff Carter, he wasn’t great at trading either, but as I said, every poor GM gets a few things right at some point.

We didn’t have a lot of cap space, which is different than zero cap space. Much of the plays this offseason were a look ahead to having to sign the kids next year.

That has to be some pretty fancy GMing wouldn't you say? All I have been hearing for that last 18 months is Canucks have no cap flexibility but take on a 6 million dollar contract

Was Gillis' trade for Ehrhoff so great? By your logic you repeat over and over on here, Gillis traded a 1st rounder for Hoff.... you know, like how you say over and over that JB traded a 1st for Gudbranson....(McCann).

He’s pretty raw & needs a few years grooming. With prospect pool being ok there is time to wait for him.

My favourite Gillis trade was A first Bernier and Grabbner ( 3 firsts) for Keith Bllard and Oroskevich

No, i mean, Who does Seattle threaten to take, that would cause us to add someone like motte for them to draft Myers?

I like Myers myself, so I’d want to know what the alternative option would be.
