That would be great if he ends up like him. He plays alll 3 forward positions. |

Analysts have been nearly unanimous in predicting TOR to win the division. They certainly have the talent, and seem to have addressed most of the major gaps (ie. defence and toughness) in their lineup. You could be right about the egos, but having guys like Thornton and Simmonds should help with that
Edmonton is a risk to no one - they continue to ice the same roster each year (McD, Drai, and nothing else), and they still have no goalie. It’s sad watching a generational talent like McD waste away there
Van and Cgy are decent, but worse than last year, as a result of some really bad moves. For Van, signing Holtby was awful. And for Calgary, the downgrade from Brodie to Tanev is hard to comprehend. - AxlRose91
lol Calgary worse?
Major upgrade in goal, better depth on O, Vali/Tanev>Brodie/Hamonic

Lol, come onnnnn
You’ve gotta be looking through some extremely rose-coloured glasses to argue that the Flames improved this offseason
Upgrade in goal, sure. But that Markstrom contract is incredibly risky. Too much $$ and way too much term for him
Objectively speaking, the Tanev signing is flat out bad. Flames also lost Brodie, Gustafson and Stone on the back end.
Whiffed on Taylor Hall, rumours swirling about Gaudreau being shopped, etc. Just seems like this team is poised to disappoint. And if Markstrom pulls a Cory Schneider, things could go south in a hurry

If any team's starting goalie pulls a Cory Schneider, that team will go south in a hurry. Also, Brodie seems to have become an extremely overrated Dman. A year ago, the Flames were trying to move him without much luck. Tanev is not a downgrade.

How long before the Brodie is just like gardiner comparisons in TO

Most definitely!
Glad to see TJ gone tbh. Good riddance. |

Clearly you haven't watched Brodie play very often. Everyone in Calgary wanted him gone!
Gustafsson played for us for 7 games and was very poor defensively hence mgmt letting him walk...
Stone?
All I know is I will take Tanev over any of these three any day..

I always had time for TJ. He played a lot of good hockey & always gave us decent home town discount contracts. The last one was rockstar. I wish TJ well, he is still a solid 2nd pairing Dman. What he wanted was expansion draft protection & Treliving couldnt do that. Tanev gave us what we needed & can be left exposed to the ED next summer. I dont think Tanev has a problem getting picked off by Seattle after playing so long in Vanc.

Good skater and great at breaking the puck out of the zone, but his defensive game really wasn't up to par. I get what you are saying though.
There is a reason why he was the whipping boy!

Isn’t it so weird how a fan base tends to unanimously agree that a player is terrible, only after he leaves??? Odd phenomenon
If you can’t see that Tanev was a horrendous signing, it’s difficult to take anything you say as being unbiased
Anyways, enjoy the race to 5th place in the division fellas!

It was unanimous a long time before he was traded. Brodie consistently had breakdowns in big games... can't wait to see how that translates in Toronto lol

TJ will give the Leafs lots to cheer about, when he’s good and on his game he’s a great defencemen. But when he’s not, fans will roast him like a cheap hotdog. Not sure he knew what he’s getting into. |

you haven't been a flames fan very long eh? Brodie was underpaid for a few years. remember when he put up 45 pts in 70 games while making 4.5 per? his play did drop the last two years but he was still market value. not to mention his play picked up after he fainted. I hope nothing but the best for him.
I think brodie is better than Tanev, but Tanev has grit that we desperately need. if valimaki can step in and play half decent without getting hurt, I think we will be better than last year though |

You’re probably right but Wolf has yet to give up a goal yet.
Zary and Pelletier on the same line today. |
