Reports are that Dach has a fracture. Timetable still unclear but generally as Bob McKenzie described (as posted above by sensarmy).
The timetable increases significantly if surgery is required. Otherwise anywhere from 4-8 weeks depending on severity and rehab. - Theo Fox
There is a photo of what is allegedly Dach's injury floating out there.
Assuming it is legit, someone, somewhere else mentioned it's either a Colles' or Smith's fracture.
I know recoveries vary but, it looked like something that will take months to heal. |

On my Christmas list is a fracture that doesn't need surgery, fingers crossed

Kind of silly to have a NHL player in a showcase for kids.
Yes it could have happened during the regular season or practice but at least that would be with a NHL team being a pro - not some amateur event. - fattybeef
No current, past or future NHL player would ever turn down a chance to represent their country in a major international competition. That’s why playing in the Olympics is a sticking point for the NHLPA.
Playing with the ‘C’ on his sweater for Canada in his home country, with millions of people watching, would have done a world of good in Kirby’s development as a future leader and captain of the Blackhawks. The injury was freakish, an$ what sometimes happens in a contact sport. |

Until you look at things like how he actually plays. Poor on the boards and worse at knowing where to be on the ice or what to do with the puck. It is easy to see how he dominated juniors - being a bigger player and having a lot of technical skill - but with the 'smaller ice' of the NHL he does not look good.
When he has plenty of time to get the puck, look around and make a decision he looks pretty pretty good. When there is any type of pressure or urgency he looks very very very bad. - fattybeef

Not exactly Santa with a ho ho ho, but if Dach had to break a wrist the right was the one to break. As a right handed shot his right hand is down the shaft and is not as important during stick/puck handling. It will adversely affect faceoff taking, but the hand on the top of the stick is much more important for everything else. Now if he needs surgery all bets are off.
Happy Holidays to the whole roster here! - 6628
The first thing Inthought when I was watching.
Better take all the time necessary now, and he can catch, when a few more guys ae further along in a year.

"For the injury, the thing that concerns me is that he didn't get hurt by some freak accident, cheap shot, or flagrant foul. IMO, the play looks rather routine with players colliding against one another in a way that seems to happen a few times per game without issue. "
What with the protection, or lack of it, of modern gear, it's amazing how really easy it can be for something like that to happen.
Granted, I have never even been remotely anything more than a rec player, and I got one of those from some just really relatively lightly getting me on the wrist --- I did have it checked and I guess I still had a decent range of motion and was fairly strong (doc did the resistance triage thing) -- and I never had it put in a cast or even knew it was broken - til I had another injury playing and x-rays showed it was.
I stopped playing in scrims - but still kept up coaching --had a nice big impressive bruise up my forearm for about a month I guess ...
In my case it was because back in the 'old' days gloves came with more cuff protection - I think they went half way up your forearm -just off the top of my head ... had laces on them too -so I didn't have any separate wrist guards ... I didn't know they even really existed ... but, well, yeh I got them now...
it was funny, I had this really alarming lump on my wrist the night it happened (and it was literally within about a minute of the zamboni coming on to the ice and chasing us off) ... and my mates were like ... oohing and ahhing ... told me I needed to get some ice on it (well I mean I literally said I didn't know where to get any)... yeh at an ice rink ... I ended up using some zamboni scrapings.
I guess though the other point is (aside from it can happen from some routine looking plays very easily ... and my own case - I don't think but 2 guys at the rink had any idea at all that I had had a problem) - Dach being a pro, that should have been the primary consideration ... who is the employer? Well, Chicago. . . therefore that is what he needed to be getting ready for ... not sure why they didn't see it that way themselves; he's their investment, afterall. |

US made it a game - lost 3- 5 (ENG).
After getting it to 3-4 with 3 minutes left, just could control the puck in the Russian zone to get any chance for a tying goal. |

I saw a picture of Dach's wrist - YIKES! It looks like his hand is about an inch off square with his wrist. I'm surprised the bone didn't break through the skin. I can't imagine how that is going to be fixed without surgery. |

Yeah, it's not for the squeamish. If, as purported, this is his break, feel so sorry for the kid. He looked miserable in Boqvist's pics today.

He's done a lot of growing over the past year. Maybe his bones are in growth mode and that hit to the breast plate on the other guy's body armor was too much.
Hoping for less Kruger-, more Kane-like recovery.
Hope everyone is having a safe and joy-filled holiday season and here's to a much, much better 2021.

Agreed stuff happens in a fast moving game. It's too bad because he looks like a solid young player and part of the next generation core in Chicago.
Hopefully he'll be back sooner rather than later.

I don't know how true that picture is, the only reason i say this is because the way he is sitting on the bench he had red tights under those black shorts, i expect his knees to be red and the black shorts falling at least mid thigh, or did he change his pants after he got hurt, doubt it
They actually look like football tights |

Koekkoek has signed with Edmonton. Another Bowman fail, letting a quality d-man walk for nothing. How was Stan not been fired for this?

Another first round pick lost for nothing, reminded me of Bobby Orr, should not have tried for bridge deal and locked him up long term. |

Some of the Blackhawks mid-round picks on 2020 have had a real solid start, particularly Slaggert and Kaiser. Obviously these quality picks aren’t Stan’s doing, Scotty must have exerted is influence here. |
