Awesome move by Stan, nothing supports a youth movement like the signing of a 35 year old journeyman.
Great job Stan |

Which center prospects would be better served in Chicago than in Rockford (assuming an AHL season)? |

I stated some time ago that Soderberg would be a nice signing for us. He is big and not easy to play against. Love it! And I cannot see any reason to fault Stan especially when we got him for $1M and for only one year. If his deal does not have a movement clause, then he becomes a nice asset at the TDL. |

I had a gut feeling the Hawks would sign one of Granlund, Haula, or Soderberg even before the Dach injury. Granlund and Haula went off the market a week ago. By process of eimination, welcome aboard to Soderberg.
While I like what he brings to the ice, especially on a one year $1M deal, not sure how/where he fits besides center depth who may not play everyday.
Soderberg isn't a top 6 center which should go to Toews and Strome. Bottom 6 centers are nicely filled by Wallmark and Kampf.
Even if they trade Strome, why screw up the depth by playing one of Soderberg, Wallmark, or Kampf as 2C. Players are then slotted incorrectlly.
Kurashev is a middle 6 center but a year away from being ready for 2C duties. if that. Being a 3C may be better for him, especially with Dach back. |

Soderberg is a good pickup. Love how he plays. Physical, aggressive, two-way center who can still contribute offensively.
Just don't see where he fits exactly. In this crazy season that's condensed and may have COVID rearing its ugly head, having more players isn't a bad thing I guess.
Let's also not forget about the Swedish connection that may be tickling Colliton's fancy right now. |

All kidding aside, this signing well let's just say, the price is right Bob, and if they can flip him at the trade deadline that would be great. Although it's going to be tough to trade him since we are playoff bound. |

Soderberg can be traded. This allows more time for prospects whom aren't ready (but are close to being ready). There is only positive in this Bowman move.
Trading expensive Maata whom ultimatelyishould depth because he is slow, and the out battled along boards Koekkoeck, is not NOT poor management. Especially now in a shortened season when the emphasis is upon youth as in the numerous younger dmen. The prosoects so far have a higher ceiling than BOTH Maata and Koekkoeck displayed. Notice how the role for both is as temporary plug in and most likely will find on the bottom pair and as depth for their new teams. Both Edm and LA have defense prospects not quite ready. Maata and Koekkoeck are expansion team fodder.
Bowman used Maata and Keoek as fill ins and they get a passing grade, although not a good grade. Both performed well or shall we agree better in the playoffs than we expected. Now they take their act elsewhere. Which is just fine. I want Seabrook to not be obstructed by those two anyway. Seabrook should be used and hioeulleis as good or better than those two. Seabrook is under contract so let hope he is good enough to play. |

If Pirri is still a center, I'd much rather have Soderberg over Pirri which is another silver lining with today's signing.
Pirri is fine on the taxi squad. Soderberg is too valuable to stash away there. |

Any word on the availability of Shaw and Smith. Does Stan know something we don’t? |

I don’t think the team has made any announcements but I believe the consensus is that Shaw will be available but Smith won’t be. |

Watching the Canada/Germany game and the Canadians look really good.
This game would have been eve more fun to watch if Reichel and Dach were playing. |

Dach - yes, there’s no need to rush Reichel. Let LR develop in Germany for another couple seasons, then spend time in Rockford adjusted to the North American game, then in the 2024/2025 season Reichel can be eased into the Blackhawks lineup. |

Who puts Ryan Carpenter on the taxi squad. Soderberg was projected to make $3 mil. As a FA. Too bad for him anyone interested in him cannot afford him. Stan got a deal, 1 mil. For a true #3 center. He had 17 goals and 35 points last year. When Dach comes back, he probably plays RW the rest of the year. He was playing RW with team Canada.
